The virus seems rather broad and deep at Deere.

Another company/brand I'll no longer support or use. Will it be a worse fallout than Bud Light?

Quote:

To put it mildly, John Deere seems to have forgotten who their customers are. Having a farm myself, I'm disgusted that a once great American brand is now taking this turn to seemingly embrace leftist policies that are diametrically opposed to the values of most farmers.

What's unknown is whether CEO John May is knowingly forcing these policies or if it's gotten out of control and he's out of the loop on how bad it is. His response to this story will be very revealing as to his culpability in the implementation of woke policies.

This report is only the beginning. We have so many pieces of news to report that it's going to take weeks, maybe even months to report it thoroughly.

My Godfather who farmed in Central Texas for 60 years hated John Deere. Their business practices would hold customers hostage, especially with the more modern technology.

We only used Case and IH (yes, this was before they merged) on his farm.

All HR Departments need to be purged and flushed of all this BS...that is the only way that you kill this off. Hell I'd off source my HR Department to a 3rd Party if I was a CEO

Sure, but they're still the world's foremost ag equipment brand.

And Starbuck is right, Deere's customers do not support this, knowingly. More degeneracy and tearing down of this nation by people who hate it.

John Deere is no friend to farmers. They have a massive lawsuit overhead for unlawfully conspiring to restrict farmers from doing their own maintenance and repairs.

That's a shame. My grandfather owned a John Deere franchise in Tennessee back in the 1960s. I always loved getting to their small town and seeing that dealership right on the edge of town.

I was thinking of finally getting a riding mower next year and they were going to be my first choice. Well, I guess we'll see. I'm not a cancel culture kind of person, but this is disappointing.

Dont they have Yanmar engines? Might as well buy a Yanmar and save a bunch of bucks. Ive been on fence between them and a Kubota. this seals it. I hear, if you take one in on warranty, they make you take it to another dealer down the road than one you bought it from..

What jd is doing is bs from the beginning of this thread. The rest has some misinformation in it. Jd uses yanmar in the smaller tractors I think up to like 40 hp or so. In regards to kubota, I own one, made and assembled in the USA are 2 different things.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have a small push/electric mower (two smaller batteries, gets about 20-30 minutes or so, have never timed it) that I use right around the patio area when it gets too long between my big cuts from the company I use. Takes like 10-15 minutes with a bag empty.

Not sure if I want electric on this one or gas, but open to either.

I have about two acres, which doesn't sound that big, but when you're out there, it's more than you'd think. Everyone near me has a riding mower or company.

I've had other upgrades and repairs I've been doing since I moved to the country in Bryan four years ago, but it's on my list.

Everyone says get a zero-turn, but not sure I'd do well with that and they're more expensive. I figure it's a turn or pattern deal depending. I see both on my street.

Any advice on that?

Took a "negotiations" elective in grad school. Class was 3/4 women from the HR grad school program.

As one would imagine, class full of women on the worst quadrant of the hot crazy matrix. Near max crazy and slump buster (at best) on the hot axis.

Yuck.

Prolly best to ask the Outdoor board folks. I've owned Toro and Troy Bilt. The Troy Bilt was a riding tractor. It was not a bad mower for the money.

I'm not as big on electric for a mower because they are 4 cycle, no oil in the gas. Trimmers and blowers however, I'm electric now on the blower and will be on the trimmer when my Echo gas goes belly up.

As far as zero turn, unless I was mowing a very large area, or owned a landscape biz, I would not do that. Tractors are way cheaper and do just as well for normal lots.

Eta, oh wait, you have two acres?! Oh yeah, zero turn if I'm buying one for that much yard.

I used to have a lawn tractor but then I bought a zero turn.

I'll never have another lawn tractor.
Zero turns drive faster in the straight aways and don't waste hardly any time in turns.

I've had a Husqvarna 48" lawn tractor with a Kohler engine for 11 years now and it's been very reliable. I have an acre, but it's more like I mow .7 acre since some of it is a rough area I don't mow, plus the house/patio/driveway footprint is part of it. Takes me about 45 minutes.

John Deere has forced many of tgeir smaller independent dealers to sell out to "regional" dealers. The entire Texas Panhandle/Western Ok is controlled by dealerships owned by one company (Western Equip). Can't get your equipment serviced by anyone else, unless you want to truck over to Lubbock or Wichita Falls. They know it, and they charge ($$$) accordingly.

Screw that. Traded the Deere in on a Kubota. Have two Kubota tractors, AND a Kubota track loader, now. Suck it, Deere!!!
