I couldn't get a ****ing steroid shot for allergies at Beutel when I was a student. Glad A&M is shutting it down but it never should've happened.

Texas A&M Health Services officials announced Monday it will no longer be offering gender-affirming services to students, including hormone replacement therapy, at the Beutel Student Health Center.

The email obtained by KBTX Monday afternoon was sent to students impacted by the decision from Senior Director of Primary & Specialty Medical Care Dr. Tiffany Skaggs.

The end of services used by transgendered students becomes effective Aug. 1, 2024.

I think they're just aligning with state law. There are some minors attending A&M, 17 years old, and this eliminated a lot of potential issues. (I know nothing, just speculating.)

When I was a poor college student, I couldn't do the plasma deal. Not a fan of needles, but watching the red blood cells being injected back into my vein was just too much.

However, get a little cough and go to the quack shack, get a prescription for codeine cough syrup with 3 refills was pretty clutch in financing my Chicken habit during the lean times

I had a bunch of capillaries come to the surface and it was a ***** to stop it from bleeding if I brushed it on something. Went to the Shack and the doc took me into his surgery room and commenced to cutting on me and tying it off I guess. But the dude kept telling me about how he was born with no deltoids and sometimes he started shaking a lot. I was already watching him with that ****ing scalpel down there and started sweating to the point he asked me if I was ok? Later I realized he was most likely ****ing with me but I was dumb.
Decades later I met him when my folks moved back here and they were next door neighbors.

I'm glad to see this reversed, but it is a sad reflection on our University that it was ever allowed. They need a different kind of help outside of trying to reaffirm their mental illness.

Ah, the quack shack. Went there sophomore year for a fever/sore throat, where they promptly fixed me up with antibiotics.

Neglected to tell me it was penicillin...which I'm allergic to.

Back in my day ~1990, there was a late night doctor at the Quack Shack who would molest male patients.

He eventually got run out, but no telling how many unnecessary rectal exams he administered before he was fired.

Damn, all I ever got was Amoxicillin or 500mg Motrin for cold or pain.

Was 100% in fear of the "Quack Shack!" The talk on campus is you could go there for a cold and end up dead from something else you picked up while there. Stupid for sure, but thankfully never got sick.

Removed an ingrown toenail with a six pack of MGD and a serrated steak knife. Felt so good when done...

Used a six pack of MGD, the side of a toenail clipper and tweezers on a large growth on the side of my roommates face to remove a very long and nasty ingrown hair. So GROSS. He'd been to a Dr. that gave him a cream and the thing kept growing. You could say he misdiagnosed it.

Wasn't going to the Quack Shack!

There was always a crowd when these surgeries took place, but thankfully no phones, videos and social media.

I went in my sophomore year and was told I had allergies (and that I wasn't pregnant as they, of course, ran that test as well). My parents were visiting that weekend and my mom commented that I looked and sounded horribly. She ended up taking me to a local walk-in clinic where we found out I had strep throat and laryngitis. Quack shack, indeed.
