That said reparations of any kind are stupid. This idea is obviously a no go. Cash would be wasted on things of non importance and they'd be right back where they started.

Not one of these people mentions the two things that would help more than anything else. 1. You have to motivate your kids to succeed. 2. Fix the inner city (and rural) educational systems. It all starts in the home and class room.

They know that's too F ing hard, so let's give away prizes instead. Just ignorant.

Reparations is such a flawed concept.

A) If you are trying to compensate for pain and suffering, the problem is that no people alive were subjected to it

B) if you are trying to compensate for financial harm, the problem is the descendants of American slaves enjoy a FAR SUPERIOR economic outcome to the western Africans who were left behind. Yes, the financial conditions of slave's living descendants were actually improved quite a bit by the actions of slavers.

C) the most directly responsible for enslavement were northern Africans and Arabs - so it would be them on the hook for any damages assessed

What if a person is 50/50 "black/white?" Do they get 1/2 the money? 25/75, 10/90, 1/99?

Did they have to have ancestors who lived here before the end of the Civil War? So a person could have moved to the US yesterday and be tax exempt?

It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child. I remember the days, sittin' on the porch with my family, singin' and dancin' down in Mississippi…

That's an implementation problem, and it's so huge that it should be a non-starter. However, my point is there isn't even a basis to pursue this terrible idea in the first place.
