Quote:

As outlined in a 2023 guidebook, this remaking of the U.S. economy includes billions in funding for green tech manufacturing - everything from hydrogen production to batteries to solar panels.

To grow industrial activity at the scale Biden envisions, however, will require an enormous amount of electricity. China has been able to feed its green manufacturing economy by building out large amounts of coal capacity, while the U.S. has been shutting down a lot of its coal-fired capacity.

When the plans were laid out for this ramping up of U.S. green manufacturing, it doesn't appear anyone considered that the U.S. grid would need a much larger supply of electricity. Where all that power would come from wasn't factored into the plans. As a result, projects are already having trouble finding enough power, and the green economy has just gotten underway.
LOL. It's like they really want to be socialist. They want to force everyone into EVs. But they're so incompetent nobody stopped to consider how much extra energy all that would take.

Meanwhile they shut down coal plants and refuse to do much nuclear.

SMH.
Trump will fix it.

the Green economy also threatens to destroy some of the worlds largest banks.....

Solar panels require silver to be efficient.

Ramping up production on panels significantly increases global demand for the industrial metal.
Quote:

As the global demand for solar panels soars, so does the demand for silver a key component in the manufacturing of photovoltaic (PV) panels.

Solar installations are breaking records worldwide in both volume and low price, according to BloombergNEF. Installations were up 64% from 2022 to 2023, to 413 gigawatts. Leading the charge is China, which added 240 gigawatts in 2023 alone.

Last year photovoltaics consumed 142 million ounces of silver, or 13.8% of total silver usage worldwide, up from nearly 5% in 2014, according to the Silver Institute. The durability and high electrical conductivity of silver make it attractive for many industrial uses, particularly electronics. But in the past 10 years the solar industry's share of global silver has almost tripled.

Not only are solar installations multiplying, but silver use per solar panel is growing, too, by a factor of more than two. More silver content makes solar cells more efficient. Bloomberg estimates that by 2030, solar panels will consume about 20% of total silver demand given trend projections.

https://payneinstitute.mines.edu/solar-surge-puts-pressure-on-silver-supply/

Major banks have been manipulating silver prices with electronic derivatives/futures on the CME for years to keep it contained and make significant money shorting it. (they don't buy/sell and store the metal, they just buy and sell electronic contracts)

for example......
Quote:

JPMorgan to pay $920 million for manipulating precious metals, treasury market

PMorgan Chase & Co has agreed to pay more than $920 million and admitted to wrongdoing to settle federal U.S. market manipulation probes into its trading of metals futures and Treasury securities, the U.S. authorities said on Tuesday.

The landmark multi-agency settlement lifts a regulatory shadow that has hung over the bank for several years and marks a signature victory for the government's efforts to clamp down on illegal trading in the futures and precious metals market.

This admin is panicking and threatening the primary culprit of solar panel production.

Quote:

Yellen faces tough road on China's vast overproduction problem

GUANGZHOU, China, April 4, 2024 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen arrived in China's southern factory hub of Guangzhou on Thursday with a tough message to Chinese officials: you're producing too much of everything, especially clean energy goods, and the world can't absorb it.

China is unleashing a flood of electric vehicles (EVs), batteries, solar panels, semiconductors and other manufactured goods into global markets, the result of years of massive government subsidies and weak demand at home. Global prices for many goods are tanking, pressuring producers in other countries.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, also said Yellen would explain: "If there are trade actions around the world, it's not an anti-China thing, it's a response to their policies."

But Beijing appears to be doubling down on investing in more manufacturing capacity in favored high-technology sectors, a stance that is also increasingly at odds with Europe.

https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/yellen-faces-tough-road-chinas-excess-capacity-problem-2024-04-04/

Curtailing production is a secondary reason.....the primary reason is that she is trying to save the banks that have been shorting/manipulating the silver market for years.

American liberals are like the middle school student body government. So much energy and passion yet so lacking in logic or any sense of real world realities. They don't have the slightest clue what it would actually take to implement the New Green Deal, or even that it simply can not be done. Life as we know it would be over.

And they don't seem to care. I can't take the left seriously yet I know I have to. This is why guys like Carville and Maher are hammering their own. They can't take it anymore either.

If it breaks through $30, we could see some serious trouble short covering by the big boys. Hint: there's not that much available physical silver and the metals that are in vaults have been rehypothecated.

Quote:

Rehypothecation is the practice where banks, brokers, or individuals use collateral that they do not own to help finance assets. Previously pledged collateral is used as collateral for a new loan, creating a leveraging cycle that promotes profitability but increases default risk.

The silver institute comes out with their annual report on 4/17. It appears they've been under reporting the amount of industrial silver used in panels for a while now. i.e. over reporting supply/under reporting demand (how does that impact price?)

This doesn't mean the world is going to end (although it would if the banks can't cover their shorts)....just means that there is some growing pressure in the silver market.

And for the down side, the banks have tremendous power to manipulate the price, after all these years of watching this market, I won't be surprised if they slam the price back down below $21 by the end of the month. Do not take this as investment advice.....Do your own research.

Totally agree with this. Most of the Greenies I have encountered have absolutely no clue what they are demanding or have any idea how to accomplish their green agenda. It is like actual math, science, physics and logistics do not exist or have anything to do with meeting their goals.

Classic case of Democrats not understanding economics nor math.

Purposely killing the means of production while simultaneously and arbitrarily forcing an increase in demand.

I work in the same sector. With all the planned oil production, data centers, crypto mining, and green hydrogen/ammonia plants wanting to get built, ERCOT is now forecasting that by 2027, the night time demand could be higher than last year's ERCOT summer peak demand by 3 GW. Unless we seriously upgrade the grid and get more natural gas or nuclear generation, this is going to be problematic. By 2030, ERCOT cannot even find any planned generation capacity to serve the expected demand, and they are proposing to literally use imaginary generation capacity to study and plan the future grid. Absolutely bonkers. The next six years will be interesting.

Edit to add: It can take 3-4 years to build a major new high voltage transmission line, and these are sorely needed to serve the demand in addition to the generation capacity.
