For a long while F16 has served to cover political topics as well as a hodgepodge of current events/news/science.
Fully understand and am onboard with Staffs recent trend of locking threads that do not have an overt political aspect to them, given this is the POLITICS forum.
That said, there are many current events/world news/science topics that many here are interested in discussing that are not political in nature, and they really do not fit in any of the other forums except General Board, And we all know that board is a wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Does it make sense to have a separate forum for these kinds of posts, or to add a thread title flag here so that they are considered and treated differently by mods and not locked?
Any interest that might get back to site ownership to make this happen or leave it as is?
Is it the Kardashians?
Is it a sports team winning a title?
Is it a "scandal" by an actor/musician?
Is it a low level natural disaster?
Is it a potential scientific break through?
Is it any of the above but in a different country?
If we leave it open to "non-entertainment" then maybe it could happen, but it's such a broad range that I could see the mods having a difficult time calling the strike zone of what is relevant and what is fluff.
With that said, I'm all on board with the idea of a current events board. As long as it's not low intellect entertainment b.s. like the general board is wasted with.
