This is in the Democratic primary for Cook County's State Attorney's office. Maybe it was a boo-boo oops! But wouldn't that have been caught before now?

Quote:

The Chicago Board of Elections has admitted to a mistake as the city awaits the outcome of the Democratic primary race for Cook County state's attorney.

The board said it is working to add more than 10,000 votes to its total count after its director of public information said he mistakenly left out some vote-by-mail ballots.
Quote:

Chicago Board of Elections Public Information Officer Max Bever released a statement, saying vote-by-mail ballots delivered on Monday, March 18 were left out of the count.

"I traded speed for accuracy in reporting out numbers this week as quickly as I could. I truly regret this error on my part and for the confusion that it has caused the voters of Chicago. I will share updated numbers only when they are accurate and verified," Bever said.

Bever said additional counting will continue on Sunday with poll watchers from both campaigns in attendance.
Quote:

Bever continued, "I made an error in reporting the number of Vote By Mail ballots received back on Monday, March 18 before Election Day that should have been included in the 'received by Election Day' numbers.

Previously, I reported that 66,399 Vote By Mail ballots were received back and scanned for signature verification by the end of Monday, March 18. I initially reported that 7,009 VBM ballots received back via USPS on Election Day, 3/19/24. This number was incorrect - I only reported on the Vote By Mail ballots received back on Election Day only.

Approximately 9,143 Vote By Mail additional ballots received back on Monday should have been included in this 'received by Election Day' number that would be processed and counted after Election Day, March 19.

These Vote By Mail ballots received back Monday, March 18, through Tuesday, March 19, were secured in a receiving cage at 69 W. Washington until they could be run through the Agilis scanning machine for purposes including verifying that those voters had not cast ballots during Early Voting or on Election Day, and to prepare signature specimens for verification. These ballots were inspected, processed and counted by election judges on Friday, March 22, through Saturday, March 23, and are already reflected in the unofficial results at ChicagoElections.Gov."

Meanwhile, Eileen O'Neill Burke is leading Clayton Harris III by just under 4,800 votes.

Agilis? Why does that sound familiar to me? Oh, I know, that's part of Runbeck's system.

The white lady is ahead by 4,700 votes. Can't wait to see how these missing ballots impact the race.

Lots of Rs crossed over to vote for the less Marxist lib, the Burke lady, but looks like they are going to steal it.

Cook County has long been a cess pool when it comes to electoral politics. Going back to Kennedy v. Nixon.

I can confirm if they sent the problem to ChatGPT and asked it to calculate the number of votes needed out of the outstanding ballots for the other guy to pull ahead they will get the answer wrong. I've asked this thing 4 or 5 different ways and it still can't get the formula right.

Until people are held accountable for these blunders (fines and/or jail time) this will continue to happen.

I missed this part. It looks like these ballots were already counted and there was an error in the announcement. So there's not a bunch of ballots sitting out there that suddenly showed up. Good news.

She is toast. That is how mail in ballots "work".

But they came in on March 18th. And the use of the term "unofficial results" leads me to wonder if an actual accretive count is happening. I mean, that's a very long explanation when just a footnote that votes already counted were left out of a press announcement if the results thus far had not changed, isn't it?

To be fair, both of these candidates ran on platforms of cracking down on crime. I think the Dems are waking up from the woke nightmare and listening to the public -- at least a little bit.

One of her first acts as prosecutor will be to eliminate the $1,000 retail theft non-prosecution policy. She's a former district and appellate judge. She's going to focus on rehabilitation for the non-violent people if possible but is going to hire a bunch of new prosecutors to staff the office to actually prosecute people.

The other guy lives on the south side, says he's tired of his kids not being safe to walk outside and wants to crack down on violent crime. He specifically mentioned carjackings, robberies, and people not feeling safe to even go shopping downtown.

Both of them state one of their primary goals will be to restore a good relationship with the Chicago police department and work with them as partners.

MIB should stop being counted the day of the election. If your ballot didn't show up on time, mail it in earlier next time. I don't get to vote in person the day after because some delay popped up that caused me to not be able to wait in line on Election Day. It's asinine.

These are not even MIBs. They are from drop boxes and have no postmarks. There should be no drop box voting, period!

Ah even dumber.

If your vote wasn't counted due to incompetence, then the people counting the votes should be held accountable. I will hold my breath that anyone gets fired over that.

I travel to the Chicagoland area on business quite a bit. Watching the news there is painful. Engaging with locals, they can't stand the city government in the area, yet they keep getting voted in. Hmmm....I wonder how that keeps happening?
