But I'll also say, during his tenure, we didnt see the market spike northward, in the midst of mass layoffs around the country, massive inflation and interest rate hikes.

Reminds me a bit of Obama's 'jobless recovery'. Just keep repeating the one indicator that favors you, and ignore the other issues completely.

The economy was significantly better under Trump than Biden.
The stock market is not the best indicator of the economy, though it is the easiest to look at.

The President that bragged the most about the stock market was obama because he could never get decent economic growth, he never had a GDP of 3%, even after redefining how GDP is calculated and with the fed pouring money into the economy. But Trump bragged about both his above 3% GDP and the stock market, which was stupid. If you're happy with biden's economy, you might want to take a look at how much debt he is accumulating. Your personal annual income would look good if you added $100K per year in credit card debt.

what measures do you base this claim on?

As a provider of business IT and telecom products and services, I judge the economy by the trend of businesses making purchases and signing contracts in Houston.

In the 11 years I have been in this industry, it has never been as busy as it was from 2016-2019. I literally stopped cold calling for 3 years because I was so busy. My sales had increased by over 50% for those three years compared to the 3-4 years prior.

The last 4 years? Much more reserved. At the end of the day, the American people and our businesses will find a way to survive and adapt, so the economy will recover and eventually slowly grow unless the administration were to get everything they actually wanted. The recovery since COVID has not been BECAUSE of anything the Biden administration has done. It has been directly in spite of the Biden admin. The whole country can't shut down for 4 years, so everyone is doing their best.

Anyone who says the economy was not great from 2016-2019, or that it is currently just as good as it was then, simply isn't tied into the market in any way.

Precisely. The stock market prices are heavily driven by the Fed's printing presses, which have been artificially propping up prices. When inflation hit the Fed had to slow the brrrrrrrrrrrr.

The stock market doesn't reflect current conditions; rather it's an indicator of what major investors believe where the economy will be in 6 to 12 months. Trump is leading Biden by a significant % in the current polls. Investors are betting on a Trump victory and what will happen after he is elected...energy independence and lower energy prices, lower inflation, lower interest rates, fairer international trade agreements, end of the expensive global warming nonsense, etc.

Obama's average GDP growth > Trumps average GDP growth. Trump claimed he inherited a broken economy. That was false.

One measure I look at is I didn't have to take out a second mortgage to go to the grocery store like now

For anyone that starred this - you're not very smart.

The market is held up by 7 large cap technology companies. 90% of the gains are these 7 companies. Peel back the onion. this is NOT a healthy market.

NVIDIA alone will drive market growth over the next 3-5 years. Mark that.

My understanding is Trump promised corporate tax cuts would accelerate the economy but it didn't. Much of the tax savings went into the stock market instead.
