Senate border bill codifies 5000 illegals per day or not?

My reading of the Senate Border Bill excerpts seem to indicate that there can be a rolling average of 5,000/day or 8,500 in one day before the president is supposed to shut down the border.

There are leftists all over Twitter saying "nyuh uh" but I think it's "yes huh".

Can anyone clear it up for me?

The way I see it, 5,000/day can come in and get a work visa without anybody doing a thing, and the Biden admin can continue to ignore any part of current or new law as they see fit.

My understanding is that if greater than 5000 a day over an X day period it can be shut down.

Nothing about handing out visas to those 5000.

Still a crap bill and an excuse to funnel money to Ukraine and blame Republicans

But don't forget it also gives Biden the ability to simply declare that it's not a problem and override it.

Every enforcement measure in there gives the executive branch authority to ignore the law

There are supposed limits over certain time periods, but those periods can also be manipulated and the President can overrule even those.

Another poor misunderstood world traveling migrant/victim/refugee;

Quote:

Bechir Lehbeib told police he's a Palestinian from North Africa. He entered the U.S. via the Mexican border in Arizona over the summer and claimed to be seeking asylum. Lehbeib gave authorities two different New York City migrant shelters as his address.

Hang on a sec.

So we're to believe that a 26-year-old Palestinian man travels halfway around the world, perhaps against difficult odds, to seek asylum in the U.S. presumably hoping for a better life and when he finally gets here, he promptly beats up an American citizen he doesn't even know, steals the man's American and Israeli flags, and screams antisemitic slurs while doing so?

Maybe it's just me but that doesn't sound like the profile of a legit asylum seeker.

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman told reporters Tuesday:
Quote:

These are not the type of people who come to America like my great-grandparents did, like your great-grandparents and grandparents and parents who came to America to kiss the ground. Instead, they spit on our flag, they trample on our values and they commit crimes. And they do so at taxpayer expense.
Correct. In addition, our great-grandparents came to America to become Americans to assimilate into American society and to create better lives for themselves, their children, and generations to come. I'll go out on a limb and bet that's not what Mr. Lehbeib had in mind when he stole his way across the Mexican border.
He probably just wants to be a doctor or a teacher.

It's a sham bill designed to placate the ignorant masses that are happy to be spoon fed from the media and will never take time to understand it, but in reality it doesn't solve the problem and allows the morons that tried to pass it to say they took care of the border crisis.

Thank goodness the House leadership put a stop to it. We dodged a bullet, at least for now.

I've seen the obtuse try to claim "encounter" doesn't mean entry. Which ignores the reality on the ground and also ignores the claim that a bill is needed because there is no authority to turn someone away after an "encounter" (meaning of course they entered).

"We need to make it a law, before we find out" Nancy P. Probably.

Except it would also not count people from beyond Mexico or Canada in that 5,000. It would also allow the president to exclude special populations (i.e. gays, trans, whoever he chooses) and further it would allow him to declare an emergency and suspend the restrictions.

In other words, it does nothing to stop illegal immigration or to curb asylum claims. It is a middle finger in the eye of people who love America.
