On 31 July 2023, police stopped a vehicle. With police trying to grab the keys from the ignition, the driver took off and was shot by one of the troopers. The driver was wanted for felony charges involving a no-contact violation.

Yesterday, 24 January 2024, the Hennepin County attorney filed murder charges against the trooper who shot the driver.

Video from three body cams and a squad car is at

Londregan, the shooter, was the trooper at the passenger side of the vehicle.

The Hennepin County Attorney, more concerned with the driver's family's anguish, had a use of force expert consulting on the case but charged Londregan without him saying that they made the decision based on their own investigation. The Minnesota police association attorney pointed out that since they aren't using the use of force expert, it is most probable that the use of force expert thought that the shooting was justified.

From the second story:
Quote:

"I want to acknowledge that this is a difficult day for many," said Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty in a press conference Wednesday morning. "My heart is with Mr. Cobb's family. They are devastated and will continue to grieve Mr. Cobb's loss the rest of their lives."

Moriarty said her office determined Londregan's use of deadly force against Cobb was unnecessary through its own investigation.

"We were able to determine that charges were appropriate without the use of an expert," Moriarty said, in reference to a question about her own September 2023 statement claiming her office had "already identified" a use-of-force expert to aid in its review.

"The type of expert who examines evidence in nearly every case where an officer uses force. Their independent review is a critical part of our process. We selected this expert even before we received the completed investigation so that we could move forward with our work immediately upon receipt of the file," the statement read.

Londregan's legal team, as well as the Minnesota Police and Peace Officer's Association (MPPOA), immediately criticized Moriarty herself and her reasoning for the charges.

"The fact that there is no expert tells me that there is likely no expert that would agree with her conclusion that the officer should be charged with murder," said Imran Ali, general counsel for the MPPOA.

What utter garbage....it's complete facking anarchy out there.

1) dude had a warrant for felony...a no-contact violation. I'm sure the guy is a gold-medal citizen. And felony stops get sporty quick as this shows...so officers have a higher expectation for resistance and usually prepare accordingly.
2) I counted at least 5 refusals of lawful order
3) Original stop was valid for no tail lights
4) Cobb takes off with cops basically inside his car endangering them as they are being thrown from the car on a ******* interstate highway with alot of cars going 70+ at night.

For the love of God the Minnesota statue on use of lethal force nearly describes this very incident:

Quote:

to effect the arrest or capture, or prevent the escape, of a person whom the peace officer knows or has reasonable grounds to believe has committed or attempted to commit a felony and the officer reasonably believes that the person will cause death or great bodily harm to another person under the threat criteria in clause (1), items (i) to (iii), unless immediately apprehended.

So if this isn't a valid UOF there really, actually, honestly, and in practice, are none. The message is very clear.

One day, Minnesota is going to wake up with no law enforcement. Things will deteriorate at a much more rapid pace, and Minnesotans will be scratching their collective heads wondering what went wrong.

Typically murderers don't assist in giving their victims medical aid afterward.
Again this falls under the "if you just comply you will be alive and well" catagory.

Amazing how many of the deaths wouldn't happen if they would comply with police officer. However, since he was a felon knew he was going back to jail if he could worm his way out to it

It's to the point where white officers should not even interact with black people, no matter what crime they're committing. If the mayor calls 911 cause some crazy black guy is murdering her family, just don't go, let her deal with it. Let it happen. It isn't worth life in prison for a white cop who no one seems to ever back up.

Wait, wait I'm confused. Is that an Austin Powers " That's a man, baby " female or is that a real guy ? Real guy meaning only that they were born with a banana at birth. With these leftist, 80% have some kind of hormal imbalance where it is impossible to be certain what they are. Then throw in what they identify as or if they had " Bottom surgery " or only " Top surgery " Trying to find out their true sex becomes as complex as the faux science of astrology.

This has already been happening since floyd and its been both white and black cops not rushing and or even avoiding getting involved in situations where they may end up Chauvined.

Even better, just don't go to work for big city / big county departments.

Our police around here will generally deal with much more reasonable people. They can spend the time to take people off the streets that the big city departments would probably just ignore because they have much worse to deal with.

From 2001 to 2008 I spent a lot of time in Minnesota on business which evolved into friendships that ended up always being dual purpose trips. Stopped traveling with first born in 2008 but returned for a Tradeshow in 2018 or maybe 2019 and was shocked how deteriorated that place became and this was before floyd. No intentions of going back that place is ruined and IMO started with the big somali settlement push. floyd was just the nail in their coffin.

They'll have law enforcement. It will just be the lowest of society who cannot get any other job. Think DMV workers.

It's not like those cops didn't get plenty of evidence on how they are looked at and treated by the leaders in Minnesota. They could've and should've moved away to another state if they wanted to be in law enforcement. Instead, they chose poorly. Now we get Chauvin2.0.

One thing that puzzles me about police stops. Why don't they box people in, put stop sticks in front of the tires, or chocks in front of and behind the tires?

My guess is that the actual percentage of time they need that is pretty small.

Probably shouldn't try to run over a cop if you don't want to get shot. Total bull**** charge.

I generally have high expectations for cops to shoot only as a last resort, but that was a good shoot. Both officers were in grave peril the second he started accelerating with them hanging out the door. This is a stupid move.

I am wondering how many cops in Minnesota have quit and/or moved out of the state in the last 3 1/2 years. I would not be surprised if almost every department in the state is badly understaffed at this point.
