Shooting in DC at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr Ave at Malcolm X Ave SE near the Popeyes, not a few hours before the MLK JR holiday begins.

We have finally achieved Dr King's dream; we are judging people on the content of their character and not their skin tone; unfortunately much of their character is found wanting as they continually murder and assault each other while white America is blamed for it

I have no idea why we even celebrate MLK day anymore. Neither the left nor blacks want to be judged by the content of their character, but instead on the color of their skin. They aren't even shy about it anymore.

In other words, the exact opposite of what MLK preached.

Well, is we also celebrate Juneteenth at a national level, celebrating an edict that freed no slaves. So…

Martin Luther King Jr Ave at Malcolm X Ave SE? Is that just off Minister Louis Farrakhan Blvd, right before the Fentanyl Floyd exit?

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

Not the same thing at all.

For those who admire Martin Luther King Jr, we already see one of his programs in its full glory -- hiring based on race. It has gone so far past it to cover things like hiring based on sex and now they are pushing for hiring trans. You must be truly ecstatic about this.

So which of his big plans should we go for next? Should it be a guaranteed middle class income for everyone? Or should we award slavery reparations first and then push for a guaranteed middle class income for everyone?

Do you really want to live in the America that Martin Luther King Jr wanted so badly?

I love King very much. Much much better than Malcom X. But, we all error no matter how great or small.
King was not an orthodox Trinitarian Christian.
He also led people into Marxism. He was known as a threat to the USA. Still, I referenced his "I have a dream" speech in a thread on the history forum. I present a classical historical method to Texas AMC.

What is there about him to love? That he could speak great about a dream without telling everyone that the dream was pure socialism?

Are you sure about the Trinitarian question?

Quote:

We believe in one God, who is eternal, self-existent, infinite, and immutable. We believe He has one nature, one essence, and one substance, yet manifests Himself to man in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; I Timothy 1:17; James 1:17; I John 4:4).

Fairly orthodox don't you think?

I was in DC for work years ago and stopped at a traffic light. I looked up and read the street signs, MLK and Malcolm X, and had that very thought - sure am glad it's not after dark.

On MLK beliefs. Did not believe in the Deity of Christ.

"We may find the divinity of Christ not in his substantial unity with God, but in his filial consciousness and in his unique dependence upon God. It was his felling of absolute dependence on God, as Schleiermaker would say, that made him divine. . . . The orthodox attempt to explain the divinity of Jesus in terms of an inherent metaphysical substance within him seems to me quite inadaquate. To say that the Christ, whose example of living we are bid to follow, is divine in an ontological sense is actually harmful and detrimental. To invest this Christ with such supernatural qualities makes the rejoinder: 'Oh, well, he had a better chance for that kind of life than we can possible have.' In other words, one could easily use this as a means to hide behind his failures. So that the orthodox view of the divinity of Christ is in my mind quite readily denied."

But, MLK did a good job borrowing from the Christian worldview in many areas.

What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore-- And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat?
