https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-12956237/Americas-pediatricians-say-denying-puberty-blockers-trans-minors-CHILD-ABUSE.html
Quote:

America's leading pediatricians have sparked controversy after suggesting that it is child abuse to deny gender-affirming care to minors.

The influential American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) said that 'withholding [gender-affirming care] is harmful to children and amounts to state-sanctioned medical neglect and emotional abuse.'

The AAP made the claim in a consensus statement published in late December and the declaration was in response to a wave of age restrictions on puberty-blocking drugs and surgeries for children in Republican states.
Preventing genital mutilation of kids is now child abuse? These outspoken progs deserve to be punished in the worst way you can imagine but would be banned for posting it.

Quote:

While its views are not medically binding, the panel is made up of 70,000 of the country's top child doctors and its recommendations are considered the gold-standard.

But healthcare experts in other countries have called the AAP's comments unethical and irresponsible, focusing more on the politics of the moment than medicine.
"Gold-standard" my ass!

Quote:

The US has become an outlier among most Western countries when it comes to treating children suffering from gender dysphoria - with the UK, France, Sweden, and a host of other European countries all pausing puberty blocking drugs and surgeries in minors until more is known about their long-term mental and physical effects.
Quote:

AAP's official journal Pediatrics that argued added that legislative efforts across the country to limit access to that care 'operate under the guise of protecting children.

'In reality, they punish caregivers and physicians when they choose to support children.
I'm tempted to go to law school just to sue these sick *******s, their hospitals, insurance companies and parents when these children grow up and realize they were manipulated and mutilated by those that betrayed their trust and failed them.

Quote:

The AAP has long been a defender of access to transition medicines and surgeries for young people, pointing to preliminary research that suggests in the short-term, it improves the mental health of trans children.

However, there are fears in the US and other countries that children with depression, eating disorders, and other mental conditions, as well as autism spectrum disorder, are being rushed into transition without digging deeper into psychological symptoms that could explain their feelings of mismatch between their bodies and their sense of self.

There has also been a wave of 'de-transitioners' in several Western countries who have come to regret their choice to transition in their younger years, believing doctors failed them by not challenging them as children, leaving them to suffer irreversible physical issues like trouble using the toilet, or having sex.

Bev Jackson, co-founder of the UK-based LGB Alliance, a charity that supports gays, lesbians, and bisexuals but opposes gender-affirming care told DailyMail.com: 'What worries us particularly is in the US it's red states vs blue states.

'It's become a highly politicized issue, and the idea of any medical issue becoming politicized is highly alarming because when you're treating patients, you should care only about the evidence base.'

Jackson added: 'The worst thing is this is presented as progressive. [If I were an American] I would be a Democrat. But on this issue, the Democrats are very wrong.'
I will thoroughly enjoy these "progressive" doctors being bankrupted and destroyed when these children grow up and want retribution.

For reference, here's the position of the AAP for the Covid vax for children.
https://publications.aap.org/pediatrics/article/150/3/e2022058700/188297/COVID-19-Vaccines-in-Infants-Children-and?autologincheck=redirected

Quote:

Recommendations
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination for all infants, children, and adolescents 6 months of age and older who do not have contraindications to receiving a COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use for their age. This includes primary series and/or booster doses as recommended by the CDC.

Any COVID-19 vaccine, appropriate by age and health status, authorized through emergency use authorization or approved through a biologics license application by the FDA and recommended by the CDC, is recommended for COVID-19 vaccination according to CDC guidelines for infants, children, and adolescents.

Individuals 6 months of age with a previous asymptomatic infection or symptomatic disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 should receive COVID-19 vaccination, according to CDC guidelines.

Given the importance of routine vaccination and the need for rapid uptake of COVID-19 vaccines, the AAP supports coadministration of routine childhood and adolescent immunizations with COVID-19 vaccines (or vaccination in the days before or after) for infants, children, and adolescents who are behind on or due for immunizations (based on the CDC/AAP Recommended Child and Adolescent Immunization Schedule) and/or at increased risk from vaccine- preventable diseases.

Pediatricians are encouraged to promote vaccination and vaccine confidence through ongoing, proactive messaging (ie, reminder recall, vaccine appointment/clinics), and to use existing patient visits as an opportunity to promote and provide COVID-19 vaccines.

Pediatricians' role in promoting vaccination among their patient population and in their community is critical, especially among those at highest risk for severe illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19, as well as their household contacts. Parents, caregivers, and patients might have questions that need to be addressed related to the vaccines. Pediatricians play an essential role in helping answer these questions, as well as in reducing existing disparities and addressing any barriers to accessing COVID-19 vaccines in their community.

The AAP should not be trusted and any doctor that supports them should be challenged by parents and then fired. Find a real doctor that uses that lump that's located 3 feet above their ass.

I know this isn't all doctors because we have several that post here that are embarrassed they're associated with this garbage. Unfortunately they don't have a platform or in a position to destroy these orgs. For those of you that wish you could, just know that the majority of Americans respect and thank you.

The AAP has been nothing but a leftist advocacy outfit for a very long time.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

US medical organizations are primarily led by academia and the most leftist of physicians. They have gone off the political cliff long ago.

It's past time for the sensible ones in the medical community to speak up, loudly.

Denying such children the psychiatric care they need probably messes them up more.

There are 1,077,115 physicians in the US. This "influential" group is a mere 6.5%.

Would be nice if the other 93.5% would publish a paper.

AAP is a trash group that backed Fauci to the hilt too about pediatric 'vaccinations' for his virus.

This is akin to the far left weirdo's that have taken over denominational control of the mainline Protestant churches in the US. Politics first, for them.

It is a sanctimonious religious cult and to be in good standing, one has to profess support for cult dogma. That includes the advocacy for the intersectional hierarchy of victim classes, where the tiny minority of trans persons have been rocketed to the top. That has created great social incentive to claim trans status and receive the attention and deference of the progressive left. they must support the dogma of virtue signaling care in the proper way or they will be seen as heretical and will be repressed.

This is all profit driven. I thought I read somewhere where gender affirming care has an average cost of $80,000 per patient per year. If they can push even 1 percent of the worlds population into this trap, that's 6.4 Trillion dollars of annual revenue to this emerging industry. This is evil stuff but it's greed that is driving this whole movement using the oh so powerful motivation of manufactured victimhood which everyone is hooked on these days.

I honestly feel like society needs to roll our values back to feeling shame for making excuses and taking as much responsibility for our own actions wherever possible. People should feel disgust for being a victim and empower themselves in other ways.

I feel like if we remove the benefit and appeal of being "marginalized", GAC would collapse under its own weight, SJWs would be laughed off stage, people would get to work, degenerates would go back into hiding and they would lose their audience with young and impressionable kids, politicians would drop these platforms…

I fail to see any downside.

6.5% is a big number especially since it makes up only pediatrics. How many total pediatricians are there?

Emily is originally from Massachusetts. She attended University of Massachusetts for undergraduate, where she majored in Biology and Gender and Sexualities Studies. Following graduation, she taught high school for 3 years in Boston and worked for one year at Planned Parenthood. She attended medical school at Dartmouth College and then completed pediatric residency at UC San Diego. Emily's academic interests include the intersection of child maltreatment and social inequity specifically the role social reform can play in primary prevention in child maltreatment, and how constructs of gender inform discourse and perpetration of sexual abuse. You are 100% correct. It's no different than academia versus the population at large. Academic medicine leans far to the left of us townies hiring and firing people, running a business, making sure payroll is met, etc. Unfortunately, academic medicine also has the means, the dedicated time, the infrastructure, and even the compulsion to publish. Your pediatrician or your PCP has little more input (and hence blame) for what the AAP puts out than you have over what the Texas A&M President says or does. Even worse, when your pediatrician acts against guidelines published by the likes of the AAP, AMA, etc., they risk being a target of that scourge of this country known as trial lawyers. FTR, because of this, I haven't been a member of the AMA in over 20 years.
For the tl;dr crowd: don't lump all physicians into the Groupthink of academic medicine.
Rant over.

One thing to keep in mind with these organizations is that the decisions to back a certain take are made by only a handful in leadership - or even just one person in the context of smaller national organizations.
It's not like they put out a vote amongst the members as to what positions to take.

Last year an organization meant for my specialty for those with academic appointments came out with a statement on something political (I can't even recall at this point what it was; I'm not a member). My dept Chair emailed the president of the organization, asking who approved such a politically charged statement. The answer? One person, the current president. And he was offended that anyone would question him.

Likely many members of these orgs disagree with official positions. But these orgs are also likely the primary lobbying groups for broader physician causes, so there is a bit of deal with the devil going on. New societies need to be formed.

She began building her worldview WAY before becoming a physician - evidenced by her "Biology and Gender and Sexualities" major in college. That's where the indocrination took place. Everything after that was geared toward reinforcement of the original hypothesis by any means necessary.

Didn't read the whole article, but the snippet in the OP read like what I would think a paper defending blood letting for general cures would have looked like in the 1800's. "Failure to bleed the patient is inhumane and could be considered abusive toward the patient".

True doctors are too busy doing their job- treating patients to be on these administrative boards and that had allowed doctors whose priority is social change and politics to take them over.

Now that they have done so, their goal is to change the people who get into and graduate from these schools tp remake the entire profession in their image.

The quality of doctors and Healthcare is going to take a nose dive over the course of the next 10 years as the best docs retire due to age or being pushed out by a woke and punitive system leaving behind unqualified and brainwashed losers to practice
