So here's the thing I learned about being a "conservative" until I was about 30 years old:
If you self-identify as a conservative, it makes things really easy, mentally, because it subsumes your entire identity and eliminates any effort you would otherwise spend coming up with your own opinions and outlooks on things.
Are you conservative? OK cool, now you know right off the bat that you are automatically against gun control of any kind (to the point of fetishizing their ownership), anything promulgated by a media outlet not called Patriot Daily News, anything said by a Democrat (since, conveniently, the 1960s because you KNOW you would have been a Democrat before then) and anything that you don't understand and like is now "woke."
Since turning 18 I've voted for Bush, Bush, Romney, McCain, Trump and Biden. I am still a registered Republican in the state of Texas. I think that issues of governance should be taken care of at the lowest level possible and that the federal government should be as small as practicable.
It's weird, reddit seems to think I'm a fascist and this place thinks I'm wearing a Che Guevara tee shirt at all times. I think that says more about both of those places than it does about me.
I'm guessing you typed this out thinking it was some high brow, incontrovertible truth but you failed to realize the irony when saying that is a conservative trait.
It's not my entire identity, but damn libs are like CrossFitters, you don't have to ask, they tell you. It's a worldview they have that does consume them and the way they view things through that progressive lens.

I know you also worked in print media based on your posting history. As a journalist, do you believe that any news source is entirely unbiased? Which way does that bias lean primarily? If the news from any source is true, should it matter where it's from?
And how on earth can you say you're for small federal government but be happy with Biden, Be happy with the democrats and be a progressive?
