The gaslighting is amazing. Don't believe your eyes folks, Haley is really beating Desantis it's just no one wants to see her or actually likes her.

Her support comes from the GOPe, Democrats, and other left of center people who see her as the "best" Republican running.

She has zero supports from the so called grassroots.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

She's a liberal to moderate Republican, and very much pro-establishment. Too left of center for my conservative bones, but I would take her over Biden. That's kind of like eating bad food that will make you severely sick vs. that which will kill you. I don't want to choose between a poor option and a very bad one.

We need a real conservative who can get elected President, roll back the leftist garbage that's been forced on us the past few years, and implement a conservative agenda.

C'mon. You don't actually believe that. I've posted many times - "establishment" Republicans (however that is defined) are 90% aligned with those on the farthest right of the right. Here's some blurbs from her campaign website - do you disagree with any of them?

Quote:

As a pro-life, female governor, Nikki recognized she had a unique platform and made sure not to waste it. She:
  • Signed the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act2 and the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act into law
  • Encouraged a culture of life that helped pregnant women and new moms get the care they needed

She went up against countries like Russia, China, Iran and North Korea at the UN Security Council and had the backs of our allies when others refused to do the same. As Ambassador, Nikki:

  • Played an essential role in repealing the Obama administration's Iran deal
  • Called out the Kim regime for its human rights violations on the UN Security Council
  • Condemned the Chinese for committing genocide against Uyghurs

Nikki Haley has a track record of protecting our borders and national security. As governor, Nikki:
  • Signed one of the toughest immigration laws in the country, which required law enforcement to check the legal status of anyone who is arrested for a crime.
  • Sued the Obama administration over its executive order, which granted temporary legal status to illegal immigrants.

This includes:
[ol]
  • Scrapping funding for up to 87,000 IRS staff in favor of 25,000 new Border Patrol and ICE agents
  • Mandating businesses to use E-Verify in their hiring processes
  • Restoring the "Remain-in-Mexico" policy
  • Ending the Biden administration's "catch-and-release" practices
  • [/ol]
The sale of American farmland to Chinese investors must stop. With 380,000 acres purchased, some near our own U.S. military installations, our national security is at risk. Paired with their growing ability to gain control over our food and energy supply, this is a threat that must be managed.

This is the primary problem I have with MAGA - you think that anybody who disagrees on a single issue is the enemy or is a liberal. You think that somebody doesn't talk tough is a lib. You think somebody who doesn't go into attack mode like Trump is aligned with the Dems. They aren't. And here's the point - the people who will decide the election are not MAGA and it's not progressives. It's people in the middle. I'm afraid enough of them won't vote for Trump, which means we have another four years of Biden. Somebody like Haley, or DeSantis, or any other Republican except for maybe Christie or the kook Vivek is more likely to pull those people than Trump. Also, attacking real conservatives because they aren't 100% aligned is pure stupidity.

So, you guys believe what you read on the internet, not the actual bills that she signed?

South Carolina governor signs immigration bill into law

A state can't deport someone, but do you think open borders people agree with checking the immigration status of someone who is stopped or arrested or if there is another reason to think someone is here illegally? Do open borders people agree with taking away the ability for a business to operate when they hire illegal immigrants? If Haley is for open borders, she is a failure.

Lol, you drew a lot of conclusions about me (incorrectly) based on a relatively short post. You might want to avoid telling people what they think... you have no idea what I think until we've had enough dialogue that there's enough data points to form an accurate opinion.

A liberal to moderate Republican is still > a Democrat.

I'm not in the MAGA camp anymore, not after Trump's behavior following the 2020 election and his current approach where apparently he feels entitled to the nomination and won't debate other candidates. He's also just getting too damn old. In my view DeSantis is the best candidate. Haley is more liberal than him, and I'm going off the statements she's made in these debates... I pay attention. Trump is in between them on the conservative scale, but I don't think he can win the general election, so I discount that. Vivek has some strong points but gets kooky at times... he needs more experience and seasoning. Christie is left of Haley and just too obnoxious at times... he can't win the general.

In my view, DeSantis >>> Haley. I think either of them could win the general with the backing of the Republican party. I prefer them in that order by a pretty wide margin. Sadly, if you go off the polls, it looks like we'll nominate another geriatric with a grudge who will pursue a personal revenge agenda instead of truly implementing a conservative agenda. But there's still time, and perhaps one of them can break through.

Yes, I pegged you as MAGA based on your post, apologies for any offense. My point is that Haley is a conservative. And those who act like she is not conservative are doing a disservice to the rest of us. I prefer DeSantis and that's how I will vote, but I would take Haley in a heartbeat, and if I thought she could win the nomination I would vote for her. I also hope Trump wins, the presidency, but I have serious doubts that would happen if he won the nomination. It's not impossible, but I think the chances are smaller than the other choices. I'm quite confident Haley, DeSantis, or anybody else who is normal would easily beat Biden.

I was MAGA and proud of it 2016-2020, but that horse has run its race. Fully agree that to win the general a candidate will have to pull some votes from the middle. Roughly 40% will always vote Dem and 40% will always vote R... that middle 20% is where it's won or lost.

Haley was a conservative when she was the governor of SC. But she is very much a globalist now, and a moderate at best.

She also made what should have been a politically fatal mistake by calling on the the U.S. to take in a million Palestinian 'refugees.' No way in hell. This country should have learned its lesson with Minneapolis and Detroit and the ramifications of taking in a million Somalis. A conservative would never advocate taking in a million people from a country/race that want to kill us. That is the sort of thing the Dems do.

The truthful answer is Haley is more conservative than Bush, Romney, or McCain but not nearly as conservative as DeSantis much less as effective. She would have been perfect in 2012 and would have beat Obama.

    It's all relative.

Hence my comments on being 90% aligned. The social media monitoring is stupidity, and she is running for office, so if she says something that might get her some votes from people who support Biden, then I don't get all excited. Trump does the same exact thing - I don't really think he's an admirer of Putin but he still says things like that. It's politics. On the other hand, when I see actual bills that she supported, and actual positions that she is taking, I decide whether I like it or not. And I like what she has done, as do most conservatives.

Math says it is. This isn't 1984 anymore. Democrats have 40-45% of the vote locked in no matter what. And they own elections in purple states.

This board is delusional with its rational thinking that everyone else is going to see the obvious with the Democrats. They won't and don't care to because most of them support no ethics, no values, and the destruction of America. It's not even arguable.

Nikki is the best you are going to get and there is a good chance she still loses. Good luck to everyone.

Herein lies the problems with many "conservatives". The all or nothing view.

The reality is that the "liberal to moderate" Republican is probably going to get you from 70-90% of what you want, while the Democrat will get you 0-25%.

I'm not a huge fan of Haley, but she would be several orders of magnitude better than ANY Democrat that the party chose to run.
