New one will likely fail too. It will be the new hotness for awhile but if the same people own and are openly running it, locals will stay away.

Maybe they have learned their lesson to do what they are in business to do, serve the customer, no matter what political affiliation.

There's a good chance the new restaurant with a new name won't ever open. The owners deserve every bit of misery they're experiencing.

Restaurants die and/or close and rebrand all the time. If they lasted a full five years after this incident, they likely died from reasons other than the Huckabee event.

The universities in that area are VMI (while the faculty leans left the student body is more right of center), and Washington and Lee (which is quite liberal).

My son in law, who graduated from VMI, said it was an incredible restaurant and one needed reservations weeks in advance.

I'm not surprised about the demographic of the area. My sister lives about 30 minutes from Lexington and we go there frequently. The downtown is a really neat area, and the populace consists of locals, plus Uber rich people from Northern Virginia who have retired or come to the area for the weekend (it reminds me of Fredericksburg).
