That pirate didn't even show up to vote on impeachment of Mayorkas. Doesn't bother to show up and vote on the most pressing issue of our time, defending the border.

He is an open border Republican. Houston is so much worse off because of his lack of leadership and job abandonment.

Come on Houston you deserve better.

Not in my District but I'm semi retired and have time to work for whoever challenges him next. Missing the votes is unacceptable. Basic requirement of the job to show up and vote for your constituents.

He's abandoned his District. Just go ahead and resign Dan.

I don't understand the desire of people to mock handicaps (Abbott, McCain, Crenshaw, etc.). His political inaction is what sucks, not losing an eye in service of his country.

If he was worth a crap no one one would mock him. He brings it on himself for being a tool of the demorats.

Mock? He uses his handicap to remind everyone of his "service" and to otherwise draw attention to himself. With the drugstore / children's tox box eyepatch, he's purely playing a game. Prosthetic eyeballs have been around for roughly 5,000 years.

Reminds me of a job interview years ago, but not that many years ago. One of the interviewers had a prosthetic arm / hand - but the old pincher type. This was probably 2006 / 2007. He put that arm forward on the desk and used the pinchers to hold up my resume the entire time.

Its was a game to **** with me, no different than what Crenshaw is doing.

i live in his district, voted for a rando no name opponent in the primary, but had to vote for him in the general. i follow him and have signed up for his email newsletters where his office provides updates on all the things he doesn't do in congress every month. i know he supposedly gets a very high "conservative" grade on how he votes in congress, but he talks an awful lot about ukraine and seems to never ever mention the border. we need to do better.

edit, ahead of the next primary, he'll be chirping about the border, no doubt.

I agree. Two things:

1. The few people I have known that are so desperate to participate in "the funny" and usually aren't by nature funny, and then later have some ailment themselves ALWAYS become the angrier and the most sensitive. 3 times in my life I have witnessed it. Karma is an ass kicker.

2. It distracts from the issues at hand relative to these flip flopping politicians.

I took a look at Crenshaw's website and see that he sponsored such atrocities as these:

  • A bill to prohibit the Secretary of Homeland Security from implementing or enforcing a remain in Texas policy.
  • A bill to require a comprehensive report on the Federal Government's efforts to collect, analyze, and preserve evidence of atrocities committed during Hamas's attack on Israel, public dissemination campaigns to ensure those responsible for the attacks are identified and prosecuted, and efforts to leverage international cooperation and best practices regarding current Israeli-Hamas war.
  • A bill to prohibit any agreement with Iran until the president certifies to Congress that nuclear inspectors are allowed full access to all of Iran's nuclear facilities and the inspectors provide a comprehensive report.
  • A bill to prohibit federal funding of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

This is such a small selection of his lunacy. Illegal immigrants should be forced to remain in Texas forever, because their presence offends people when they turn up in New England. We should forget about Hamas, and we need a deal with Iran. And why does he hate parents?

Seriously, to attack a guy who is aligned with you on 90% of what you like because of what he does on one issue or another is just stupid, and it's why we have moderates throwing in with Dems - they think we are kooks.

Not all issues weigh the same. Being in Texas, border security is a very serious problem and he is doing nothing to slow it down.

Showing up to vote is a requirement of the job in my book. He might have known it was going to fail but that's no excuse. I didn't bother to vote because my vote didn't count is about as chicken **** excuse as I can think of.

So would it be better for him if he made it seem like he was doing something like the others who do photo-ops and relatively small things, like giving immigrants free rides to where their families and jobs are, say, like Abbott?

Yes. Politics is all about optics and his lack of participation or explanation leads one to believe the issue isn't important. Many have long held that he is a rino and he's done very little to change that.

And we have no hope of getting everything we want. If any Republican sponsored a perfect bill regarding the border from our perspective, it would not win. We barely control the House, we don't have the Senate, and we don't have the executive. I have no idea what is going on behind the scenes regarding one vote or another, because politics, but I'm quite certain that Crenshaw despises Mayorkas. My point is that an incremental way is the strategy what will win over enough of the moderate voters to get some commonsense bills passed. Elect people like MTG and Gaetz and you are feeding the Dem story that the right has been captured by kooks. Elect people like Crenshaw, and quit going around insulting people like him, and we win more of those moderates and then we might just control Congress and have the presidency. Then we can get a bill that has 90% of what we want, unless some dufus like Gaetz torpedoes it because it's not perfect.

Abortion is a illustrative example. I believe it's murder and should be banned. But 60% of the voters don't agree with me. So I support what I can get, like a 15-week ban. Those "moderate" positions are winning, and those states where they tried to get more ended up losing.

Yes, which is why I said run more people like Crenshaw, and avoid people like MTG, Gaetz, and yes, Trump, and you will get more moderates voting for them, and then you will get votes in the Senate because you will control the Senate. Why did a Dem win the governorship in deep red Kentucky? Because they prefer a moderate Dem to a MAGA Republican. So, by all means, get rid of Crenshaw and run somebody like Gaetz - in that case it's more likely that you will get someone closer to Sheila Jackson Lee than they are to normal Republicans like Crenshaw.

Trump is a moderate.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
He certainly is on a lot of issues, like abortion. My point is that he is MAGA, and moderates don't trust MAGA. Losing the Senate and the vast majority of the elections since 2020 when MAGA was involved demonstrates that sad fact. Trump might win if he is nominated. I think the odds are against him, and I prefer not to risk it.
