Such children on both sides.

The main difference I see is:
one person wants power, will make deals to get it, and will not follow through on his promises.
one person wants to hold the other person accountable for not following through on his promises.

I would much rather Gaetz ignore McCarthy and let him ride off into the sunset as a has been rather than keep up the petty poking.
