I think we all knew that van der Sloot killed her. Curious as to why he only received 20 years with time served to run concurrent with his sentence in Peru. This seems like a miscarriage of justice as he will be eligible for parole in 2043. This guy has killed 2 young women for refusing his sexual advances. Isn't that the makings of a sexual predator serial killer?

It will be good if they actually get her body back this time.

The Peruvian jail is awful. Bet he wishes he could serve all his time here.

It's an unfair system, but I guess sometimes compromises are made.

He was not convicted of killing Holloway. My understanding from the news articles is that the lowered sentence was part of a deal that he confess what happened with Holloway at the request of the family.

The details of it are horrific, this guy will get his in hell!

I don't think either were over sexual advances. Natalie went willingly, but it may have gotten out of hand or he just became violent.

He killed the other girl because she was looking up information on Natalie.

But he's clearly a psycho with anger management issues.

He will go to hell, but from what I've read the Peruvian jail is awful. So at least there's that.

It was pretty much solved within a couple of weeks after it happened. There was just insufficient evidence without Sloot's cooperation.

He'll be free at age 56 and I would anticipate him killing again.

He confessed under the stipulation that it can't be used against him in a murder trial. Plead guilty to extortion in trying to get $250k from her family for information on what happened to her

Fully agree. This guy should not get any time served somewhere else for another crime, nor concurrent.

Once he finishes up his little tour of Peru, he needs to be sent back to the states and take a Federal prison tour for 20 years.

So serves time in Peru until release date but if Peru releases him earlier than he is to be transferred to US custody (which would mean he would be released here).

But his plea deal included that he "may" be permanently refused entry to the US. If he does try to enter, he MUST let Homeland Security know.

Seems like justice to me.

We will see him on reality TV in 10 years in a lib city near you.

So basically, 5 years for Natalie.

It was solved years and years ago. Only never proven because sadly her body was never discovered and neither was a crime scene.

That guy is clearly a psychopath.

I sincerely hope that he's murdered by his Peruvian cell mates on the day before his scheduled release in 2043....

Last time I was in a Peruvian prison it wasn't so bad.

He said in his "confession" that he drug her in to the ocean. There's no body left to recover.

Natalie's family traded punishment for a confession and the details, which I can understand. There really wasn't enough evidence to convict him, even though everyone knew he did it. He agreed to repeat all the details under a polygraph test.

This was probably their only path to get the closure they desperately wanted.

Of course, they may be thinking of it like I would - do anything to get him to confess, then kill him if he ever gets out.

I remember hearing that at the time, but an article I read this morning was that was false and refuted. Peru has weird sentencing that if it was a crime of passion, he could have gotten 2-4 years, so his defense team pressed that angle. However (at least according to the article) a forensic review of his laptop did not support this claim.

Can't be hard to pay to have him murdered in Peru.

Why would he enter US? To serve time? He's not an American citizen and he killed Natalie abroad.

Boys that were with Natalie and Jordan initially said they were kissing initially but yes he could've pushed sexual advances farther than she wanted to go and that did it. Honestly the only two people that would know for sure is Natalie and him and Natalie's dead. I know there were at least two different versions of the story he gave in the past.

Interesting, thats not how it's been explained multiple times in the second case. They had already slept together, and apparently she was looking him up online when he came back from getting coffee and then he lost his **** and killed her.

But at least he's been in prison for over a decade and a long way to go.

Did he? He's had several versions of the story. But it probably is the most plausible. He's definitely a psycho.

When he was younger, he was nice looking. I'm sure he got away with a lot when he was younger. He just expected girls to do what he wanted but again the second one has been explained that she was looking him up online about the Natalie case and he lost it.

We have never set foot in Aruba and won't. Refuse to give them them and the corrupt Dutch government any money. So many better places to go in the Caribbean. The Aruban and Dutch government totally failed the Holloway family.

Dropping him out of the plane at 20,000 feet would be ASAP and do the trick.

According to a transcript of his confession, van der Sloot shared a grisly account of the teen's final moments. He admitted that he crushed her head with a cinderblock and dragged her to the ocean when she refused his sexual advances on an Aruba beach.

As he recounted the incident in an Oct. 3 interview, he revealed he grew angry with her resistance, grabbed the block and said, "I smash her head in with it completely."

"Her face basically, you know, collapses in," he added. "Even though it's dark, I can see her face is collapsed in."

Glad somebody else caught that. There's no way he dragged her body to knee deep water at night off a crowded beach during the day especially spring break and the body not wash back up the next day.
