The guy had a point until he started spouting off nonsense about Trump, 1/6, the Canadian trucker protests, etc. at about 9:15. These people cannot accept that the right is right sometimes.

Good talk. He's right, and we've seen it already in this country.

Digital technology companies.

Essentially people are becoming the product that can be manipulated to unwillingly achieve other people's goals, or at least that's the theory.

Whether true or not, people should still get off of social media and advocate for greater digital privacy.

I think his point was about disinformation, in general, leading to a nebulous portrayal of reality and different sets of "facts". This is highly dangerous and is impacting our entire ability to interact with those who agree and disagree with us.

Remember, back in the 1960's, when mass advertising over the air waves worked, and everyone thought we were going to do just exactly what the advertisers recommended us to do for the rest of eternity? That lasted multiple generations without waning, didn't it?

The real power isn't held in being able to just deliver a message.

Old information exchange: You turn the radio/TV on, you listen/watch, you turn it off.

Now that equivalent media is listening in on you, and has access to a incomparable wealth of personal information about you, and can adjust the message just for you. Not many seem to understand where that can get very dark very quickly.

And many who think they can/are avoiding advertising/algorithms don't realize they're already being manipulated by them.

Yet he and other limp wristed liberals like him tend to always bend over backwards to ignore the greatest propagators of misinformation. THE LEFT AND THEIR INSTITUTIONS.

Liberals are f-ing delusional and psycho.

My goodness what a punchable face. I can tell by looking at him that me and this guy would have virtually NOTHING in common. I bet he was FOR persecuting me and my family for refusing to get the vaccine. Probably thinks Jan 6 was on par with Pearl Harbor or 9/11. Really wish I could just give him at least one 85% strength open handed slap to the face. F anything this guy could possibly have to say and everything he stands for.

Yeah, F this guy and everything he stands for. Little tyrannical weasel. He wanted for my newborn and my family to suffer for not getting the bullsh** experimental vaccine. Guy is a complete clown and I would whoop his b*** ass if we ever crossed paths.

Hot damn, I am great at judging and assessing the most pathetic form of life known as the modern limp wristed white liberal male eunuch. See the "Anyone else get a sketchy vibe from Dr. Fauci" thread from March 2020.

In my estimation, that will just make people even more jaded when considering messages and information.

If you know you are being pandered to, you kind of resent the messenger.

The illusion that we are not being pandered to will die out even quicker with AI.

nothing. A Ted talk that concludes by posing a question to the digital rulers (tech companies): what kind of leaders they want to be: heroic and righteous authoritarian censorship czars, or bigoted free speech misinformation protectors

This is inaccurate.

The left doesnt want freedom of speech.

The right only wants democracy if they are in the majority.

The right does want freedom of speech. This is a remarkable change as it used to be christian conservatives who were trying to limit free speech in the past.

However, it is patently false to claim the right cares about democracy anymore. There are more people who vote Democrat than Republican. The demographic reality is closing in, and instead of changing their ideas, the right tries to steal elections or yell foul when they lose them.

January 6th is a prime example of this.
