He spoke some truth at the beginning of his closing paragraph:
Quote:
When I was a student back in 1989, and the Wall fell, the United States was the principal exporter of democracy in the world. Not always successfully. Often hypocritically. But number one, nonetheless. Today, the United States has become the principal exporter of tools that destroy democracy.
He's not wrong.
What was the solution he offered?
The left doesn't want democracy, it wants the illusion of democracy.
This is inaccurate.
The left doesnt want freedom of speech.
The right only wants democracy if they are in the majority.
Wrong the Right wants wants freedom of speech and justice/fairness applied evenly.
The right does want freedom of speech. This is a remarkable change as it used to be christian conservatives who were trying to limit free speech in the past.
However, it is patently false to claim the right cares about democracy anymore. There are more people who vote Democrat than Republican. The demographic reality is closing in, and instead of changing their ideas, the right tries to steal elections or yell foul when they lose them.
January 6th is a prime example of this.
“A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for... is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free.”
— John Stuart Mill----On Liberty
