Someone didn't learn from Solyndra, Minwind Energy, Renewable Energy SD, Cardinal Fastener & Specialty Co., etcetera etcetera etcetera and the beat goes on (that is the beatdown of the American worker).

Nuclear is the clear winner both environmentally and economically.

Why it's not sought after is anyone's guess.

My guess is that the real primary purpose of the climate change movement is to weaken western capitalism and thus, put an end to the 200 year run of Anglosphere hegemony.

Start with "The China Syndrome", add in Three Mile Island, and top them off with Chernobyl. There is a significant portion of the public that is terrified of nuclear power and can't be convinced it can be safe.

Honestly, I'd be concerned about a nuclear plant designed, built, and run by a people hired for DEI, rather than because they're the best. DIE would be a more appropriate acronym.

And unfortunately that would be the case.

Bc there really isn't money in it. One big capital project, and it fixes the issue? F that.

We need a solution that doesn't fix our problem. But a solution that requires an annual need of funding and capital improvements to feed money through the system.

You actually can put a cost estimate on it if you put a dollar amount the the cost per ton of CO2 removed from the atmosphere.

If I had gone to my c-suite with a similar approach and withheld information like what is in that video, I'd be walked out of the room and fired on spot. Our government leaders are clueless in what they are doing.

Regardless of the topic, that was horrendous to watch and Mr Turk needs to go back to 1st grade and start over. Nobody has time to show him where he forgot to pay attention and coach that imbecile.

I don't think they are clueless about what they are doing . It''s just the best way to get control and feather their own nests simultaneously. They aren't really interested in what's best for America and Americans .

Not the best link I know but the Texas Legislature has been complicit in sabotaging us with the CREZ spending to suck at the federal teat. It's treason, plain and simple, and needs to be stopped.

The Anglosphere has been steadily kicking ass for nearly 450 years, and arguably longer than that.

But your point is well taken.

Tower 3 actually went online a month ago, with tower 4 the early 2024.

Here's what I've found
Quote:

A new report from the US Department of Energy[4] found that the root causes of the overages at Vogtle included: incomplete design, inadequate level of detail in the integrated project schedule, inadequate quality assurance, poor risk assessment, limited design constructability, a shortage of experienced labor, and even the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sounds like poor management . I was more expecting there were delays caused by obstructionist lawsuits I hope it goes smoothly point forward but I will say this, huge capital projects often have delays and cost overruns. That's not much comfort I'm sure.

I think you'll be happy with the reliability and safety of it in spite of the overruns. Btw, I'm not in the utility or
Nuclear business . I'm a career oil and gas guy but I'm
Pretty well convinced nuclear is the way forward versus a lot of the other so called "green"
Solutions. Oil and gas are just the bridge and I say that because they are finite resources . I suppose nuclear is too but much longer reserve lives. There may be something even better that ultimately comes along but the technology has to lead the market. The reverse doesn't work despite propaganda and misinformation from the greenies.

I also feel like the smaller modular nuc plant designs may be the way over gigantic plants. Much shorter construction time and lower overrun potential.

Not unless it's a boondoggle, which is all green energy.

And how can you possibly think we will be happy with something and admit you have no clue what you're talking about? It's only reliable when the sun shines and the wind blows and it's not freezing outside.
halfastros81
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I was taking about a nuclear plant, not "green"
Energy. nuc plants don't GAS about wind or sun or freezing temps. It's probably not a good idea to put them in a spot at risk from tsunamis tho.

If you read my posts you'd know that I agree with you that most of the green energy projects are indeed boondoggles that wouldn't exist without government subsidies.

Agreed. The continued development of thorium reactors (in my uneducated estimate) seems the best option long term. Also, smaller reactors with better containment closer to the users?

I thought China was or has started,up a thorium reactor?

I hear your pain. But the pansy French have been doing it successfully and safely since the 1980s and now generate more than 70% of their electricity from nuclear. Now why can't we do the same thing? The answer to that question will pinpoint those intentionally sabotaging the technology.
