While I love a good pile on the reality is a lot of folks in places like SF just live their for work or because of family and aren't political. Even if they disagree it doesn't matter because they are so overwhelmed with the folks around them. It's really hard to walk away from a job or from family or from the city you grew up in.

Now there are also plenty of folks that are just idiot liberals who did march and vote for the disaster they have but it's not everyone. I mean I live in Austin (though I plan to move when my youngest goes to school) and despise everything about the politics but it went from being more of a Hippie Liberal Weird 20 years ago to being a complete disaster of Leftism now (though they slowed the collapse with the camping ban and electing Watson who is just a corrupt old school Dem over a flat out Communist). I just hope it can hand on long enough for me to be able to leave on my own terms.

And what makes it extra funny, is that whether renting or owning, these NIMBY white liberals are paying insane amounts to live there...mostly in tiny cramped conditions. I disagree to a small extent because the residents in SF were able to recall school board members who were obstacles in reopening schools.

Maybe, but most of them are given a choice between a Liberal and a Marxist, they don't get much in the way of alternative opinions unless they are very engaged in politics and they are basically stuck. You absolutely have the hard Lefties that march and protest but she doesn't seem like one of them. She seems like a woman who probably lives there for a variety of reasons as I listed before and feels trapped.

I just don't think it is productive to assume anyone from a Blue state or city is automatically an AOC lover. I for one hope she can see the flaws of that type of politics now after learning a lesson the hard way and she makes a change.

FWIW, Was in San Francisco less than a week ago.

Most parts are still gorgeous and clean (all the touristy areas, and all the expensive areas).
Small parts of the city are completely run down and we were advised to never go there.

Did NOT go out at night

It was disconcerting not to be able to carry a firearm.
Carried a non-lethal weapon, which isn't quite the same thing.
