Houston police said a woman was found stabbed to death at an apartment complex in northeast Houston Saturday.

It happened around 7:12 p.m. in the 2400 block of Sakowitz Street at the New Hope Housing apartment complex.

Officers responded to an assault call and found the woman dead with multiple stab wounds.

Police believe this to be a case of domestic violence as the woman's boyfriend is the suspect and he fled from the scene.

Authorities said a warrant has been issued for the suspect's arrest. Police identified the suspect as Marques Kelvin Potts, 58. He has a lengthy criminal history, according to records. In 2021 he pled guilty to stabbing a different woman.

He didn't serve time in jail, but he has been on probation.

Before he pled guilty to stabbing the woman, he had prior felony convictions for car theft (two counts), theft under $1,500 with two or more prior convictions, forgery, drug possession and burglary of a habitation, and misdemeanor convictions for domestic violence and DWI. He was facing 25 to 99 years or life for the stabbing, but he got five years probation

Sure seems like malpractice on the part of the Harris County Prosecutors Office. Wouldn't it be nice if they could be held accountable like doctors when they botch the legal system?

I heard that 2% of the population commits the majority of the crimes....
The solution should be obvious.

Bad doctors are held accountable by the insurance industry. Bad prosecutors should be held accountable by the voter.

Which one is more dependable or smarter.

What were the terms of his probation? In Houston, he may not have violated it.

You are right of course, but I was going for personal financial liability (and potential disqualification from holding office (license)) when they negligently don't fulfill their obligations, which directly results in an innocent person getting injured or worse.

He's also accused of stabbing his girlfriend's puppy to death (but he hasn't been charged with it). His bond is set at $125,000.

Not the first time a guy on parole or awaiting trial has killed someone else in Houston.

If they did it once they can do it again

I really don't get it . Why do the backers of the Soros type judges and prosecutors want clearly violent people wreaking havoc on society? What do they gain from it? How is it good for anyone?

It's righting all of those wrongs, don't you know.

You know 'the wrongs' that our ancestors did to their ancestors. Come on man it's a small price to pay.

A lot of states' three strike laws don't allow probation for a third strike, but Texas allows it, which is how he was able to get probation.

I know that's the "logic" but it just makes zero sense when you or Someone you know is bleeding out on the sidewalk / in their apartment, etc. the law abiding people are getting hosed. It's especially not good for the law abiding poor . It's not even good for the perps. No one benefits from violent lawlessness. Why in hell are "We the People" allowing it?

The mayor isn't specifically the problem here tho altho I'm Sure Turner and Shejack probably support letting the violent lawless roam free as long as it's not around their homes and families.

Of course as I was being sarcastic.

I'd have a really hard time not going after 'whoever' in the system allows these violent sobs back on the streets if one of mine were the victim.

The hell of it is I would bet a very large majority of the folks(poor/middle/wealthy) are fed up with the lawlessness. Maybe, just maybe they'll pay attention and vote in the next election, as long as there are quality law AND order candidates in these areas. Horrible situation and completely self-inflicted, all of it.
I don't think you know me.

I knew you were being sarcastic. I'm pretty sure our thoughts on this are pretty well aligned.
