Also supported by HEB but not with taxpayer money
like the $5000 from "the university".

If their students carry dildos around campus, then this should not really surprise anyone.

I knew we could count on you to be all in on fighting for the right to have drag queen story hour at the elementary school library.

From the article:

"Since the Texas Legislature passed measures banning the hormonal and genital mutilation of gender-confused children as well as children's attendance at sexually oriented shows, LGBT advocates are pushing back against the child protection measures."

HEB is asking for their employees to wear Be the Change shirts if they go to the event. I hate those Be the Change shirts at HEB. I know people that work there and they won't wear them. No one should be required to wear political shirts at work. I'm surprised they have't been sued.

Be the Change

I'd tell my manager that "my change" is to not support immorality and mental disorders.

"with drag queen story hour".

At some point, the L's and G's are going to have to separate themselves from this.

Directly from the article - this is what is pissing everyone off that they are open and seemingly proud of!

Quote:

-E-B sponsored a different LGBT advocacy event in Austin, which included a drag show targeting children

Sending your kids to fight on the front lines. Wow.

Kids need to be taught to discuss problems at school with their parents and the parents may need to react aggressively sometimes.
But as a general rule, kids are not equipped to "fight" with a teacher and will probably get bad marks if they try - both gradewise and secret commentwise.

I have their back. They know it, and believe it.

First we gave up ISDs
Texas A&M is next
Then we'll leave Texas and flee to Florida.
At some point, you have to stand and fight.

My kids have been through Austin ISD and are better for it.
If anything it has made their faith and conservative ideals stronger.

Its a learning experience for your kids (young adults).
You have to stay involved.

The only Bs my kids made in schools were on pro-conservative topics ("guns, capitalism")
In one case, the teacher gave my son a B, because he didn't "follow the rubric" - lesson learnt for him- if you are going to take on the teachers, you better have your shi$ together. It was still hilarious - teacher said you didn't have a conclusion on "socialism" - he responded - "The conclusion is Don't vote for Bernie"

They got pretty good at it by Senior year.
One of my sons would always make the school paper as the "conservative voice" on pretty much all topics - still ended up being top 2% in his school, though all teachers knew who he was and where he stood on issues.

As an aside, its isn't history or government where you are indoctrinated. Its ALWAYS English class. Through middle and high school.

Great parenting..
ha ha

Also, timing and it was *easier* I think schools have gone off the deep end after Trump was elected. Fortunately my kids were in high school by then, so more mature and able to deal with it better.

They didn't have to face teachers advocating for chopping of genitals of elementary aged kids. And they had some quiet support from conservative high school teachers (rare in Austin ISD). Ironically the teacher that supported them the most was a gay conservative teacher.

Also, we knew almost all the conservative parents in the high school. So we all had each others back.
One other data point, we aren't white. So it's easier for us - no one screams white privilege at us.
