None of his concern? Then he says "the US is in a lot of trouble?" Did he not listen to the question he responded to with a stupid response? At BEST, he contradicted himself. At worst, he is in no position to be anywhere near the White House. He was a poor choice for VP.

A confusing answer. I'd like to hear the rest of his statement there for context.

He's not worth the effort.

I'm not a pence fan at all, but I'm pretty sure he was trying to say that Ukraine wasn't his concern. (Even though we know it probably is)

He jumbled that response horribly and should have clarified what he meant. Doesn't matter anyway since he has zero chance in this race.

TLDR; Tucker hates sending anything to Ukraine. Pence goes onto offer a further stock answer about doing things here being leader of the free world, etc. etc. The answer was stock and the one liner about Tucker wasn't delivered well.

It was taken out of context, but you can't just make statements like that, because that is the sort of soundbite that ruins candidates. Overall it wasn't a good outing for Pence, and I've liked him since he was in the House of Reps. I think he's probably done

Pence looked awful.

You can tell he tried to throw out a couple of remarks to get the crowd behind him...only to have a 'please clap' look on his face when it fell flat. And this was in front an evangelical Christian audience that was supposed to be his bread and butter. Even they weren't seeing the authenticity from Pence.

Sure, Tucker asked him a lot about Ukraine...but he set himself for that response by making it sound like he was SO concerned about Ukraine and how the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church assured him the regime wasn't going after clergy...blah blah blah. Did he honestly think people wanted to hear him go on about how he went over to Ukraine?

His line that really got me was the spin about how if we don't support Ukraine, then Russia takes over and then invades a neighboring NATO nation...then we're at war. Uh, what? Quite the conclusion you jump to there.

He was answering the question of "where is the concern for the United States in that?" (or something very close to what is quoted). He had a very annoyed look on his face when answering, which meant he wasn't going where Tucker was wanting him to go. If he was trying to say, as you allege, that Ukraine wasn't his concern, I don't think he'd have had that look. No?

I don't know. As I said I'm not a fan of his and am not going to be his defender on this. It just seemed likely that he answered out of order on that and got caught up in it. I have a hard time imagining him saying states and cities suffering in the US isn't his concern. That's an immediate political suicide statement if so.

Yep. Carter was a good guy.

I'd prefer for my presidential candidate to be a good guy, like Desantis…and not a self worshiping, adulterous, lying fake Christian who pushes lockdowns and awful vaccines and attacks conservatives from the left…but a good guy alone does not a good president make.

My opinion on Pence has never changed. I think he is a good man but has little charisma and is a very vanilla Republican. Never really understood him as the VP candidate when there were many other great options.

That being said, every Trumper thought he was badass until Jan 6th and now he is somehow worse than Pelosi. The cognitive dissonance is amazing.

Who is worse? The enemy, or the one who pretends to be your friend but is actually aligned with the enemy?

Probably the one hopped up on their own ego trips that eventually has no one to work with since no one else can do t as well as them. No one gets to be left to implement their random ass "policy" that gets sent out via the Twitterverse.

Yet that guy is leading in all the polls. I guess nobody can play the game as well as he can.

Lies, Trump accepted pence as a tribute to the Republican party. I'm sure it wasn't his first choice. He won't make that mistake again.

This is the problem. there is NOBODY who represents a "decent" person in all of politics. They aren't your friends and they in no way represent us. Get that out of your head. Now, with that out of the way we can agree that a system that doesn't represent us needs to be disrupted. The most disruptive force at this moment is Trump, whether you agree with his positions or not. We need to begin to tear this system that does not represent us down. we shouldn't continue to feed it by voting for people who want to work within the system.

I watched it live and couldn't believe it. It has been discussed here in F16 previously.

When I rewatch it- Pence is just a very bad communicator which is incredible since he started his career as a political talk show host!

I am positive that Tucker says "Your Concern is more Ukrainian tanks when all these other problems in america are happening"

and it was THAT that Pence is saying: "that is not my concern"

but any politician who is that bad should never be the President.

neither should any politician who chose Pence to serve as the Vice President.

and if Republicans were honest- Trump has said MUCH WORSE statements over the last 6 years but his defenders contort themselves to "clarify" and gaslight the rest of America about it.

but because Pence is a hapless candidate anyway- he is finished. same with Asa Hutchinson.
