Basically land sold with direct financing and no banks involved.

Are the same folks involved in both?

Someone needs to start following the money, I would bet there are heavy ties to the Mexican cartels in both of these areas.

What could possibly go wrong? Other than this being a disaster waiting to happen?

I bet there are heavy ties to people who claim they are against illegal immigration.

Plum Grove is a small town and is at odds with Colony Ridge, the development for illegal aliens, and with Trey Harris and family, and entities they own. Harris has sued Plum Grove, Plum Grove has sued Harris, Plum Grove has hired Wayne Dulcefino.

There has been a lot of looking the other way, cover ups, almost certain illegal acts. and likely this goes all the way to the governor's office. I think I read the Harris clan has donated over $600,000 to Abbott.

Or Soros.

Wait, they are the same. Soros uses Open Society Foundation to fund the coyotes to recruit people to make the trek into the arms of the cartels to complete the journey.

Which is a prosecutable offense, BTW.

The longtime state senator for the area should nut up and call this and Abbott out but won't do it.

Well exactly.

The same state Republican legislature that could not even pass a bill to stop Communists Chinese from buying up more Texas land.

Their priority was impeaching their own AG.

I've met the guys behind the plum grove development. They're white guys who drive big trucks and hunt and fish. They're not responsible for the border fiasco, but willing to capitalize off it.

Colonias have been around in Texas for a long long time. As have landowners who take advantage of them.

Probably one of the biggest "legit" outfits on the border was Obra Homes. And it's a stretch to call them legit. But they did put in actual utilities and streets, but their model was large cash down payment followed by seller provided financings with an insanely efficient foreclosure, eviction and resale process.

Plum Grove should be a surprise to no one who has ever paid attention to immigrant housing in Texas.

I would bet dollars to doughnuts they were doing that on a contract for deed instead of warranty deeds. I saw something similar south of San Antonio that was targeted at low-income people, not necessarily immigrants. They sold everything on contract for deed, which meant if they missed one payment, they could kick them out rather easily. It was a beautiful blackjack post oak property that was turned into a large lot mobile home subdivision. No idea what it looks like now.

I spent a week at Obra reviewing loans for sale to a servicing company… had to sort through performing vs non. On certain addresses, I would see the same
House sold 3 times in a year. By then the cash down payments had paid for the house and they were in the black. Performing loans were packaged and sold.

Don't remember details enough to confirm your suspicion, but would assume it is correct. Craziness. And printing money.

BS they aren't partly responsible. Just like the employer who hires illegals, the university officials that give in state tuition to illegals, the hospital districts that provide free medical to illegals- these guys facilitate and drive demand for illegal immigration. That's on top of them greasing the political machine that keeps illegals flowing north. They're just selling their country and culture out for a buck.

That's a BS comparison that presumes they are breaking laws. Our federal government is the one issuing ITIN numbers to millions of people they know are here illegally. Selling a home loan to an ITIN holder is not illegal, and a couple of Texas bumpkins don't have the authority to overthrow to federal government. If what's happening bothers you so much, then do exactly what you are criticizing them of failing to do and overturn the federal ITIN system, yourself, bigshot.

I'm sure you utilize nothing that benefits from immigrant labor. Your subdivision's landscaping, your home build, vegetables at the grocery store. I'm sure you also don't use an iPhone or clothes made by Chinese slave labor. Does that fit your cultural and moral compass?

These guys aren't at the border cutting holes in barb wire. I'm not defending anything, just pointing out they're normal right wing Americans, and you're a hypocrite.

The govt is solely responsible for the border crisis. Not discount tire selling them tires, AT&T selling them cell phones, a mom and pops selling them a burger, or these guys selling them homes. The govt could shut it all down tomorrow if they wanted to and all the ancillary would go away.

I am certain they were likely heavy D voters.

People like to blame Bush 43 for the 08 mortgage bubble… it was Barney Frank and companies like the major builders, the mortgage lenders, the guys at Obra, and the scum in the financial derivatives market combine with a Fed regulatory system that loves to look the other way when politically convenient.
