Ahead of the Memorial Day weekend, Bud Light revealed a new promotion called the US Budweiser Family Memorial Day Rebate online for customers from eligible states. The rebate promises an amount "equivalent to the purchase price of one (1) 15-pack or larger, up to $15" of Bud Light, Budweiser, Budweiser Select or Budweiser Select 55 paid via Anheuser-Busch Digital Prepaid Mastercard. Based on recent prices for Bud Light products, however, in some cases this would be giving packs of beer away for free.

I am grateful I did not like Bud water before this and also never shopped at Target. Makes it easier for me.

Colonial Americans would have left it on the shelf. The tea act gave the east india tea company a subsidy that they used to undercut the competition. In response Bostonians dumped the tea in the harbor and the other colonies boycotted, effectively paying more for tea JUST TO PROVE THE POINT.

It's a good way to prank your friends. Get some bud light and plant it in their house, car, etc... If they have a party sneak some in and put it in their cooler/fridge.

Why would anyone waste money on that crap?

Their product has a defined shelf life. I used to have a client that owned a distributor. When they got to the point that they still had it in the warehouse and they knew it couldn't make it to a store to be sold before the end of the shelf life, they would give it away. They couldn't give it away to employees for insurance reasons. He would say can I have your keys. They would lay down the back of my seats and fill my car full of beer. I went back to the office and the workers cleaned me out. They almost waited for my sales calls to the distributor.

The funny thing is that it would be a ton of weird stuff that must have a minimal market and a ton of Bud Light. Guys would come back on Monday and say you really need to try the grapefruit mango wine cooler. This guy would be as blue collar as they come, but willing to get drunk on anything for free.

In-bev has to pay to remove their stuff from the shelf after a certain amount of time, no?

Let them pay for removing it.

If I find some for free, I'm getting it and drinking it. I've had about 20 tons of Bud Light in my life and haven't turned trans yet.

A beer company creates a handful of cans with a picture you don't like, doesn't even sell them, and someone not turning down their free beer is somehow a problem?

I don't like Bud Light. I've probably had fewer than a dozen in my whole life - only when there was no other option. But if someone offered me a free case, I'd put it in my fridge.

Guys, their sales are only down 25% and all will be back to normal soon. I can't wait to find out they incorporated this free rebate into their sales numbers going forward.

Beware of the fine print. I wouldn't put anything past them

They are trying to get sales statistics back up. This is about manipulating sales data and protecting stock price. They are getting killed on BL P&L and its a lost cause at this point.

I hear Yuengling is hiring

They are probably buying the expired product back from the distributors at $20 so a sale and voucher for $15 will save them $5 a case. have to cut your losses any way you can.

At some point they have to start losing shelf space.

I bet they are. I always drank Yuengling when working in MD/VA and was thrilled when it came to TX. The downside of this BL ****show is the price of Yuengling is probably going up.
