Keep religion out of public schools.
What you want to teach your children on your own time is none of my business but foisting your beliefs on everyone else's children is the exact opposite of "religious liberty".
oh no

Why would we want to teach public school students "thou shall not steal"? Don't you know the racial mix of our prison population is not equitable so stealing is no longer wrong and not a crime depending on what you look like? Can't have far right extremist white supremacist doctrine like not stealing or not killing in our public schools.

who says you can't teach that you should not steal in school?

I have no problem with 10 commandments being posted in public schools, but this bill passing doesn't prevent teachers from teaching you shouldn't steal. though if the parents are saying its okay, really does not matter what school tells them

Commandments 4-10 could easily be modified and posted in a classroom as classroom policy.

4. When you're at school there are times for work and times for recreation. Don't forget when those are.

5. Respect the teacher's authority to run the classroom

6. Don't kill

7. Honor your commitments

8. Don't steal

9. Don't lie

10. Don't be jealous.

Texas schools are teaching religion every day, it's just not Christianity.

Morality in our schools isn't going to come from a piece of paper tacked on to a wall.

It's going to take actual personal involvement and teaching our kids to live out their faith, along with electing school board members that have the same values.

When did anyone propose that?

School districts aren't interested in just teaching the core subjects.

Think this through...

If you bring Christianity in schools do you really think Muslims won't want to bring their religion into your children's schools?

Once you've brought Christianity into schools do you really think we'll be able to tell Muslims they can't bring their religion into our schools?

Which religion do you think woke teachers will emphasize?

It just really doesn't belong in school, at least as a Christian monument.

Conservatives must be able to present argument without Christian talking points. While this country does have a tradition built on Christian values, it's explicitly not to be included in government.

It's pretty cut and dry.

Exactly. There are schools in Allen, Sugarland, and Coppell that are majority Indian and probably Hindu. If there was a school board vote it ain't Christianity that they would be teaching.

I'm sure teaching Hinduism would go over well with this crowd.

So instead. Keep your religion at your house and at your house of worship, and I'll do the same with mine.

I'll be pushing my congressman next session to include 5 Buddhist precepts:

No lying
No stealing
No killing
No sexual misconduct
No intoxicating substances

The only problem is that my Hindu buddy wants his faith's moral standards posted as well.

Leave religion and leftism out of schools. Teach the three Rs and have some sports.

Keep the thing out of schools that has kept society functional...what a great idea lol.
Anyone who chooses to ride a bicycle in the street is a threat to themselves, and others. If a vehicle strikes you accidentally, YOU are at fault; and the laws of physics supercede all else when you're in the path of a 2 ton killing machine. Know your place, stay off the road.

Seriously. Are they really going to be okay when the Sugarland school board votes to become the fighting Vishnus and requires each student to complete annual courses in the virtues and teaching of Hinduism?

I'm guessing that would be a violation of their children's constitutional rights.

A lot of these folks pushing this are evangelicals and do not understand that it's a big world out there and lots of faiths. What will they do when the satanist show up demanding rights? It's never ending. Keep it out of school.

I grew up on the west coast. Attended K thru 12 from 1979 to 1992. I do not recall any religious influence in school at all. No prayer time. No 10 commandments on the wall. My mom drug my brothers and I to Sunday School and church though.

And yet, when you f'd up you got to go see this person called a "principal" who was either a middle aged woman with resting bich face or a middle aged man with little to no sense of humor. There may even have been a paddle involved. You didn't want to see this person. Oh and mom was going to have to come up to the school in embarrassment and she'd yank your arm out of it's socket and god have mercy when dad got home from work.

I love Jesus and I am all for a Christian upbringing. But that is not the issue in schools. It's a pure lack of discipline, no shame, sh** parents, coddling, and allowing a handful of students to hold the rest of the school hostage. We used to not negotiate with terrorists. We need a return to that.

The idea of a value neutral public institution is an absurd farce and pernicious lie. There will always be religion taught in schools, and now that Christianity has been driven out "woke" rainbow religion has taken its place. You must choose.
The flames of the Imperium burn brightly in the hearts of men repulsed by degenerate modernity. Souls aflame with love of goodness, truth, beauty, justice, and order.
