Rice has been a joke for years. "There're intelligent, so well studied"... blah, blah, blah. The Rice grads I know are all complete leftist greenies. If that what it means to be smart, I'll pass. They're awkward little socialist minions.

Though their sheen has dulled for me as I've learned and aged, my commencement speech was a once in a lifetime affair. We had George Bush, Sr., Barbara, and W. Not many people can say they got to sit and watch a former president and First Lady and the current POTUS speak at their commencement

If I couldn't talk a couple of dozen of my friends to hum loudly or cough continuously as she made her speech, I'd just skip my commencement. No way could I sit and listen to a triple box checking liar like she is.

I had Drayton Mclane. God I was hung over. The only thing I remember him saying is, "I pay a player 5 million dollars a year to succeed 30% of the time at the plate, you do not have that luxury."

She graduated from Columbia University !! Holy crap what a joke an Ivy League education is. She is an absolute idiot, yet made it out of Columbia. I figured she graduated from a diploma mill from an ad from the weekly penny saver newspaper for 24.99.

Graduated from NY institute of Technology. Apparently, couldn't get into Med school. Got a a masters from Columbia .

Don't misread your enemies: she's not dumb, she's evil. Her role is to advance the administration's agenda by speaking to "the press." The role is that of an advocate where she's supposed to make the best case possible unamerican Democrat actions / positions. Keep talking, never admit defeat, and let the media sort out the clips: highlights consumed by leftists, embarrassing ones consumed by republicans, and LIVs seeing almost nothing but believing the charade rhay the administration is being transparently questioned by an honest media.

I had to sit through my sister-in-law's masters graduation in Lubbock. The speaker was some idiot from Jordan. She started praising the people of the '60s. I got up to use the restroom and didn't come back.

If someone had done that at my graduation, I would have said, "I wish I could have joined you." Is it really that hard to find non-political speakers? How about no speakers at all, or just a short "great job" type speech.

Rice went over the woke cliff in the past few years. The new university president is an unqualified affirmative action hire from Georgia Tech. I got my MBA there in the late 90s and the school was pretty evenly split R vs D then. The student newspaper endorsed W for president. The only Rice grads I know are Republicans. Now they are bat**** crazy just like the Ivies.

They haven't got my dime. Got hell out of there as soon as possible. I keep up with teammates, no one else.

Let KJP speak and tell the Rice grads they will all get good government jobs lying for the President, just like she did.

Apparently. A&M is no different. Newly elected dem governor Mark White was speaker at my graduation way back in the 80's. He gave a pure political speech about education reform and teacher's salaries which was largely ignored by the engineering graduates he was speaking to. We mostly talked amongst ourselves.

Somewhere in mid 70s, liberals decided College was a right. They were going to elevated those of certain color, certain last name , certain neighborhood, certain economic status. Only thing, those kids, couldn't cut it there, so standards were lowered. Couple that with how athletics no longer was a means for an intelligent athlete to get off the farm and get an education, but became a multi million dollar farm club for pro athletes, ignoring academics, and Universities following along with lower standards for all.
Then those who were qualified morphed their intelligence into arrogance and impudence, and some less qualified adopted this- examples would be AOC , Sheila Jackson Lee- who are stupid , but cunning enough to manipulate.

You got that one right. I had Lena Guerrero for my Master's commencement from A&M. Her speech was heavily geared towards women's equality and equality for the under privileged, if I recall correctly. She mentioned remembering her own commencement from tu. I believe that was the beginning of her downfall. She lied, never graduated and ended up resigning from the Railroad Commission, not too soon afterward, if I recall correctly.

I had the ex president of Mexico at my A&M graduation for grad school. I can't even recall the speaker at my undergrad ceremony. A&M's speakers are not that great most of the time.

That's why I said their sheen has faded for me. Didn't know then what I know now.
