Disney is obviously trying to kill and bury the Old West theme. The possible retheme of Frontierland, etc and now the cabins. I guess some marketing talking head is telling them Old West is “problematic” and old fashioned. It’s sad to see. But I’m just an old curmudgeon Gen X’er.

I've been thinking this for awhile.

Disney recently closed a popular Western-themed restaurant at Fort Wilderness to build a food court.

Reliving the Wild West is just not as relevant anymore. Its not like kids are growing up watching Little House on the Prairie, the Rifleman, Gun Smoke and John Wayne movie marathons and that was happening even before woke took hold.

Aside from that, those cabins at FW look like those airbnb houses because that's reflective of current trends in design. Looks like something some dumbarse would sketchup for FEMA to build following a disaster.

I think Disney sheds ESPN and ABC as widely expected and focuses on movies, parks and tieing all those IP strings together.

Understood. But kids aren't watching anything focused on early 1900s small towns or Colonial times, either. Should Disney tear down Main Street and Liberty Square?

And the retheming will likely be to old New Orleans. How is that any more culturally relevant?

What is the reference to old New Orleans?

The POTC area in Disneyland is specific to old New Orleans. With Splash Mountain retheming then more of those elements at Disney World would seem consistent.

Don't care. The only reason Disney has any relevance in my life is that my kids watch their movies and certain low information morons have decided that going to spend hard earned money at these stupid parks is some sort of rite of passage into American consumerism.

I think the original reason for not including New Orleans at WDW is because it is geographically close to Louisiana and the thinking was that many visitors would have been to the real N'awlins.

Now the momentum seems to be moving in the direction of more Tiana and less Frontier. So Pecos Bill's would become a Tiana-themed restaurant and other changes would follow. Disney hasn't announced anything officially but there is plenty of speculation.

As I said on another thread, one of the keys to Disney's success has always been nostalgia. I would think that there are only so many changes they can make before people get fed up.
