Love reading stories like this.

The best first responder is yourself. Sometimes you have to take things into your own hands.

I saw her interviewed. She was actually quite remorseful and expressed sympathy for the robber's family, but she matter-of-factly pointed out that he tried to hurt her.

Suppose instead she had complied with the robber and just handed over the money. She was just opening the food truck for the day and only had $40. How might he have responded to such a measly amount?

Hopefully she tells sees the light and has stopped voting for Democrats that want DA's that don't prosecute criminals like they have in Houston and she tells her friends and customers to do the same.

She's alive true, but there is still a corpse at the crime scene. If she didn't have the gun what would happen? Some money gone missing? How much was that life worth 1k? 2k? There ain't nothing to be proud of here, she killed a human being.

Can't believe people actually think this way.

No kidding. It's really simple. If you don't want to get shot and risk dying, don't steal other people's stuff.

Libs always want to make excuses for the criminals and place blame on the victim. Everything they espouse is backwards.

Either shoot her immediately, or simply show up tomorrow at a later time.

Good shoot.

Keyshondra deserves a medal. She took a bad guy off the streets. Most likely not the first time the perp pulled that stunt. 100% sure he won't do it again.

How does one rob a food truck? I'm assuming that the perp is on the ground, and didn't find his way inside

You'd think that those in the food truck have the advantage of being in an elevated position and is surrounded by cover.

Then again, these people haven't proven to be very bright, and believe that they can control people just because they have a gun

The robber had already determined that the person he was robbing life was worth no more than the money in the till. Why should we value the robber's life more than that?

Ooo I love these hypothetical. Statically he would likely do this again. Maybe he ends up killing someone innocent next time. Better to take out the trash now then potentially let them do something worse.

When force is used, victims can legally respond with equivalent force. Her life was threatened with a firearm and she responded in kind.

How much was that life worth? To the food truck owner, something less than what she had in the register. Once someone becomes a criminal, their value decreases, often to the point of them being of no value at all.

I read yesterday that the perp had pulled the trigger but the gun misfired. Should she have just allowed him to reload and try again?

Any idiot knows that you cannot predict whether an armed robber will pull the trigger or not. This is why an armed defense is an option we should all have. Well, that and that document called the Constitution

Yes, the shooter and the shootee likely vote democrat. Hopefully, the shooter can recognize that democrat politicians and policies tend to create environments where the robber and his ilk thrive. And she can tell her family and friends. Perhaps not, and she will keep on keeping on as always.

A black female in Houston, 98% chance she votes (D).

We are celebrating the fact that on this day, she acted as a conservative, and took responsibility for her own life.

Maybe after this experience, and after she pays city, county, sales, and federal tax on her business, and fills out 5,000 permit forms….perhaps she will see the light and vote the same way she acts

I've had pistols pointed at me and I've decided since then if I get an opening I'm taking the shot. The food lady was lucky, who's to say the perp just came in shooting. I'm putting up a fight if given the chance, death to the oppressor!

I hadn't heard that part, but I still think people are missing my point. The world's dumbest criminal robs a food truck when it first opens and only nets $40 Expecting more, he likely would have shot her.

It's not thinking, it's non-thought emotion. What if "some" money wasn't enough? Cohen can trust the intentions of people who rob at gunpoint if he wants to -- if he becomes a statistic it's on him. But that lady and me, we'd rather the perp be the statistic; so would most folks. "She's alive true, but . . . ". You go devil, Cohen.

I believe you misunderstood the post.

Spike Cohen was celebrating Keshondra Turner and her actions against the man who tried to rob her. He is one of the country's top proponents of the 2nd Amendment and was the Libertarian Party VP candidate in this last election. Spike routinely posts stories like this that start off with "Meet [insert name of good guy with a gun who defends himself against human garbage here]...". I don't follow too many folks on social media, but Spike is one of them.

I think patrick874 was the person you were actually directing your comments toward.
