I have been opposed to our funding of this war and opposed to Zelensky since right after it started.
Kiev will have to give up Crimea and the Donbas. This is all but over despite the Ukrainian and NATO propaganda attempt.
Between 2014 after Russia took Crimea and parts of Eastern Ukraine and Jan 2021 (before invasion) the U.S. regularly sent military funding aid of a reported total of $33 billion to help Ukraine get better prepared for the next round by Russia.
And then Russia did make their move thinking they could take out Kiev but miscalculated.
Yes now the funding pace has ratcheted up because went from pre-war preparation to active war but folks should understand this Ukraine conflict has been brewing (and American backing Ukraine) far longer than before Feb. 2022 through multiple administrations (yes, even Trump's)
The war was kicked off when
Biden pushed for
Nato membership for Ukraine quickly, after the 2014 Maiden Revolution which
the US (Biden/Nuland) bragged about pushing and then installing CIA-friendly types throughout the Ukrainian government.
So yes, to an extent you are right, through multiple administrations (Obama-Biden) it had been clear that the US was trying to make Ukraine both a member of nato (quickly in late 2021) and interfered in domestic affairs actively there, and did nothing when Russia annexed Crimea under Obama so he figured this was the window to attack and take out the US-supported Zelensky regime. No, this war wouldn't have happened without Biden's idiotic pushing forward of Nato throughout 2021.
It's been a useful tool for spiking global energy prices/inflation, though, to the WEF.
