It would be nice if maybe, just maybe, they are realizing that making yourself dependent on your enemies for energy when you have plenty of it right here at home is absolute lunacy.

And only 2% of it is even being bid on. Combine that with the uncertainty and oil companies still may not largely bother.

You only have one oil company interested in the Alaska Willow project because of the optics. So you create enough chaos and uncertainty like the Dems always do and winning a legal matter doesn't even matter.

The law no longer matters.

If I were the oil companies I'd just sit it out and invest my money in electing an administration with a saner O&G policy.

OPEX spend is higher than CAPEX in the oil field for the first time and is expected to stay that way. The boom / bust cycles are over and capital investment will be slow and methodical due to hostile government and political environment.

Focus is now on maximizing production of existing assets. Not surprising there is only interest in 2% of the proposed leases for sale.
