Originally from NJ, a town 20 miles west of NYC. It is always nice to visit, there are areas I love and have family.
But I choose to live in PA. These kinds of politicians (ones mentioned by Kevin O, NJ ones too) are crazy in their beliefs that regulation and high taxes are ways to alleviate problems. They see the immediate dollars but not anywhere past the first few years of their policies. Companies started moving southeast and southwest decades ago. Now all the wealthy 1-2% are leaving too. How could they not see this coming?
And all the twits there keep voting the dems in. And the spiral downward just keeps going.
Besides my years at A&M, I have lived in the northeast (due to family mostly and now I have a great setup in a corner of PA; clean, safe, etc). I cannot come up with one thing that is better now, than what it was? Maybe the water and air are cleaner than decades ago, but beyond that....nothing.

Single issue voters
Some are one of these, many are several of these, and a bunch are all of these.
If people can witness the events all of the events of the last 3 years, still trust the government and Democrat party, both who constantly lie and gas light, and still vote D, there is no hope for those people.

I think the biggest block for the democrats are the "credentialed". These are people who think they deserve money, prestige, and happiness for checking boxes. Primarily upper education. They loathe the idea of meritocracy.

the limousine liberals, yes, I did not include them in my original group. Highly educated, usually 1 or no children, both work to keep up with the Jones, usually lawyers, in high tech, or media. Make enough money that the taxes don't really bother them. These are the ones that are happy when their kids go 'trans', cause it raises their social score in their elite society.
Soccer Moms in Upper Class Neighborhoods, who don't like Trump's brashness or mean tweets, care more about what people think about them on Facebook, than what a democratic America will look like for their kids, never want to offend anyone, think that if they just are nice to 'those' people, their lives will be left alone and it won't affect them too much.
