All universities, minus a few very conservative private ones (e.g. Concordia, TX), are on the same DEI kick.

DEI is about to get eliminated by the legislature.

WTAW had one of the A&M DEI people on saying they will find a way around any law the legislature passes to ensure "diversity" and "equity" continues.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

EVERY public university is on a DEI kick.

Not sure why this surprises any of you anymore.

As I mentioned in the other thread, A&M and many others are chasing a tiny number of candidates -- both in terms of undergrads and faculty -- trying to achieve an impossible metric.

It's a game everyone plays and no one can win, because the numbers simply aren't there.

And as this linked report says, the overwhelming focus on and investment in DEI simply leads many black students to pursue THAT as a profession, which further reduces the potential talent pool for other departments.

The article discussed shows that all of the Texas schools are pretty much ignoring DEI.

Why wouldn't they? It's easy money. Why would you bust your tail to get an Engineering Degree and then get into a job that requires high pressure and competition when you can major in AA studies and make just as much to come up with DEI policies where you have little responsibility or accountability? Most companies and other entities just throw money at DEI without any real expectation around metrics.

As someone who has worked at three public universities in Texas, I promise you they are not ignoring DEI. They are all embracing it.

Yep
If anti-DEI crusaders does not eliminate HUBs for contractors, then they did not finish the job.

Need to shine the light on how much the taxpayer's $$$'s are wasted on DEI initiatives in higher ed. DeSantis once again is leading this national battle.

If you approve of DEI departments, support them in anyway, and most certainly work for them, then you are likely a racist beyond all hope of never not being a racist.

Those that say DEI is an utter complete waste of time are the ones who you can trust they they do not have a racist bone in their body.

That is all.

Assuming the DEI legislation passes, if they follow through with this threat then there is cause for termination. They all need to be fired anyway.

Hard to do when there will be people watching for this. A&M lost $160M in 2020 and they will be sensitive to alumni pressure.

I hope the legislature eliminates the entire departments and hits universities with penalties if they are caught doing what this A&M administrator (who will be subject to termination) suggested they will do.

Leftists in academia (or anywhere) will find a way around the law to continue their anti-white, anti-conservative bigotry. Just look at Affirmative Action in TX, the top 10% rule has made things worse.

That's no reason to make it easy for them. Let them have to go through hoops. Those types love making normal people do it, it should be their turn now.

Stop calling it "anti-white." It is just racist.

In fact, the idea that black people cannot defeat the invisible systemic racism monster without help from white "ally" saviors is incredibly racist.

They proclaim blacks are essentially powerless. That is pure racism. Not anti-white. Not reverse. It's just racism.

And they likely will unless there is increased and constant vigilance

It's good to see some push for legislation (finally, a decade too late, but better than never) but if you don't get at the root of the issue it's going to be irrelevant.

Whites are already a minority at Texas. That school is lost.

Hopefully we can still save A&M.
