Because there are "Republicans" in the House who are Democrats who know they could never win if they run as such, so they run as a Republican.

Toss in the RINOs like Phelan and the House might as well be run by the Democrats.

Our "own" (gag) Kyle Kacal is a big believer in boosting the Dems.

We got totally screwed in redistricting and went from Lehman to Kacal. A big downgrade.

The Texas legislature's main objective is to line its own pockets. R&D both have proven that if it means less bri...I mean "campaign contributions", it's on the back burner.

Why are we still giving cost + contracts to Williams Brothers to work on i10 and other highways when their BS has literally killed people.... the answer to that should tell you all you need to know about our legislature

Joe Moody is arguably the best person in the House for CJ. Dutton broke rank with the D's last season and used his Chair to pass the trans sports ban through committee. Thompson is universally respected.

I don't understand the Klick appt but the rest of the D Chairs aren't game changers.

As I recall, Tracy King (Uvalde) ran as a Republican years ago and got curb stomped in Uvalde, then switched parties to get elected. He'd sell his soul to stay in political office.

When I worked in the Lege lo those many years ago, when Gib Lewis was Speaker, he appointed quite a few R's to be comm chairs. Gub'ment worked pretty well then, why not now?

Because he is the best they can get. If they try to put forward a Ted Cruz type, then all the RINOs and Democrats will vote for either the most liberal Republican, or a Democrat outright.

Voters in Texas need to do a full purge of the House in the next election, and make sure the Republicans running are actually Republicans, not Democrats pretending.

I'm not incredibly bothered as long as the chairs are competent, in relatively harmless positions, and the appropriate deals to not get important conservative legislation blocked in committee have been agreed to beforehand. It may be mostly for show, and not that significant in operation.

our new Chairman of Criminal Jurisprudence. I'm sure he will be all over the Harris and Dallas County judges who are using bail reforms that is leading to hundreds of innocent citizens being murdered every year.

This is for Texas's lower chamber committee assignments.

Texas statewide races shifted heavily right in comparison to 2018.

In Texas every statewide Republican incumbent politician won by 10-17 points after Abbott at the top of the ticket shifted the farthest right he has in his whole career.

Texas has gotten more conservative over the last 4 years.
