Just - wow. Were they asleep for the four year temper tantrum the Democrats threw when Trump was president?

https://news.yahoo.com/heckling-biden-reflects-coarser-normal-130013288.html

Quote:

The House floor has been no stranger to rowdy spectacle in 2023, but the eruptions of Republican vitriol against President Joe Biden during his State of the Union address Tuesday night underscored a new and notably coarse normal in Congress, where members of the GOP majority tossed aside rules of decorum and turned the annual speech into a showcase for partisan hostility.

The raucous peals of "liar," "that's not true" and at least one expletive lobbed at Biden during his 73-minute address dwarfed outbursts during previous such speeches, most of which have been interrupted by a single disturbance, if at all.

The display captured in images of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., her mouth wide-open as she booed and gave a thumbs-down to the president reflected the ethos that has come to define the Republican-led House, where an emboldened right wing that styles itself after former President Donald Trump is unapologetic about its antipathy for Biden and eager to show it in attention-grabbing ways.

I absolutely hate the lack of decorum on both sides. It's ignorant behavior. If your beliefs aren't good enough to stand on their own, without all the immature theatrics, your beliefs aren't worth much (or you arent).

So without question, I wish both sides would act like mature adults, instead of kindergarteners.

But with regards to that article, I'm old enough to remember:

They only care about this when a Democrat is President.

When its a Republican, its no holds barred and they are the biggest cheerleader.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

"vitriol" "partisan hostility" - oh noes! Clench those pearls!

How convenient of them to ignore Pelosi ripping up President Trump's speech a few years a go. But...those darn Republicans started it!!

Guy on radio said decorum. is no longer in play at SOTU speech as the speeches have become campaign speeches and bashing of other party, not facts and figures of where we are. I tend to agree.

I don't even see how one can even be "outraged" at this anymore.

It is part of the journalistic equation at this point.

I love that we're becoming the British House of Commons.

That said, if you can't state facts (the current state) and what your plans are to make things better instead of throwing barbs...

A democrat congress impeaching Trump twice for things Joe Biden has actually done is not vitriolic or coarse at all.

Are you saying that there are not currently sitting GOP congressmen who want to remove SA/Medicare?

Because that is a lie

I would have agreed with this maybe a decade ago. But not anymore. These people are true evil and don't even acknowledge reality...they (the left) wanted to ruin the lives of anyone who refused to comply with their mandated medical decisions. They deserve much more than "verbal disrespect" imo. That is not a threat...just saying, i am not going to cray over insults. They are despicable and evil to the core.

Right. So, if that's all true, why act like them?

Be the adult in the room (country). Give the people a much better option. Dont act like the people you just described as despicable.

CNN: "How dare they call Biden a liar!"

Even CNN's own SOTU fact checking: "Ok so there was a LOT he said that was out of context, a major stretch of the facts or just an outright lie"

I love a good raucous House of Commons debate.

The problem here is that the State of the Union is not a debate, but rather, a speech, so the dynamic is rather different. I don't expect the Republicans to remain church mouse silent while Biden spews lies for an hour, but when you try to attract attention to yourself in doing so, to me, that crosses a line. If the entire caucus wants to murmer and jeer, go for it, but there's no need for you to stand up, or try to shout something so that your individual words will be heard. There were a few Republicans that crossed that line, but it's no more than a minor offense given the outrageous posturing and lies being spewed from the rostrum.

Yeah, the whole "be the good, polite conservative" while they call you a racist and a nazi isn't working

I dont suggest doing that. Framing it in such a way, to suggest those are the only two options is disengenuous.

And this is how the narrative is controlled.

So next year I'm betting that a whole lot of the CM's on here that are so wound up about MTG will just go ahead and tell us all that they are switching over to the democrat party, because they are the more reasoned ones.

Like it or not, yelling liar, etc. during a speech to a national audience does not serve Republicans well...media will see to that. Media excuses Dems for the same. I have no use or sympathy for Biden...he deserved the yelling, but that is not my point.

Remember, when the little terrorist supporter, Talib yelled, **** Donald Trump to his face in public? I do. Remember the reactions when the Democrats all wore white a few years ago at Trumps SOTU, and we Nancy Pelosi tore up the agenda? I do.

The media only cares when it's done back to the left. They can truly **** off

You serious?

Biden calls you a racist, Hillary calls you a deplorable, and you think MTG correctly calling Biden a liar is crossing some imaginary decorum line?

Part of Trump's broader appeal was standing up and fighting these guys.

We lose by being quiet.
