I'm sure the stock market won't like this as the FED and elites want normal Americans to suffer and lose their jobs. So glad to see the labor market is still very strong.

Or people have taken themselves out of the job market in droves and are now just bums.

leftists who are so ecstatic now

are going to be pretty upset in another six months when the Fed has to continue to hammer the markets...

and unemployment picks up right up to Biden's re-election campaign in 2024.

this is only delaying the inevitable downturn in the economy due to "historical revisions to both the Household and Establishment surveys, which could lead to a massive beat."

That's precisely what happened when moments ago the BLS reported that instead of the 188K expected number, in January the US created a laughably goalseeked 517K jobs (at a time when mass layoff news hit every 45 minutes), up twice from last month's upward revised 260K and the highest since July 2022!

517,000 new jobs created?? I'm not buying that one. Unless, there are 600,000 jobs lost and the net is really negative and that's not being reported.

We're not back yet to pre-pandemic levels. And that's with "liveable wages" in most states.

Whatever you think, no one will change your mind. Too many people still on the sidelines.

Need to cut all help off to able bodied people who don't want to work to $0.

Unfortunately, they do jive to some degree. Productivity is dropping in this country thanks to a declining work ethic. Between remote work, extended leave programs, and salaried employees that used to show up at 7a and work long past 5p being replaced with people showing up at 9 and leaving at 4:30p, we get a lot less production per employee. The result, you have to hire more people but nothing more is getting produced.

Spiking the football without knowing a kick of economics. When the economy continues to crater over the next two years, I'm going to remember children like you with no real world experience blindly goaltending for your team while rooting for the pain most of us will be feeling.

Quote:

Meanwhile, companies announced 103,000 layoffs in January, more than twice the December total and more than five times the tally for the same period a year ago, said outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas. The firms cutting included IBM, Spotify, Google parent Alphabet, Microsoft and Salesforce,

Goldman noted those cuts didn't appear to push up initial jobless claims, a gauge of layoffs that has remained historically low. But economist Tom Porcelli of RBC Capital markets said many laid-off workers got severance payments and simply didn't bother to apply for unemployment benefits but they eventually will.

At the same time, job growth was likely inflated by quirks in Labor's employment survey. For example, retailers and others typically hire many seasonal workers in the fall and let them go in January. But holiday hiring was weak last year and so fewer workers were laid off, boosting the January jobs figure, says economist Nancy Van Houten.

Also, COVID's Omicron variant reduced payrolls a year ago but wasn't a factor last month, juicing January's employment total after seasonal adjustments, Goldman said.

A lot of people left the job market because the unrestricted welfare benefits. The government is still paying people to sit on their butts. Low restriction unemployment insurance, virtually unrestricted use of food stamps, and other welfare have made sitting at home easy, especially for those living with parents.

The government created this massive tax drain, and we will have to cut off the spigot. Once that happens expect the unemployment rate to rise again as people are forced to go back to work.
We may not always get what we want. We may not always get what we need. Just so we don't get what we deserve.

To the tune of 80,000 to 100,000 per year. Totally disincentivizes finding a job.

Those people are happily retired now. There was a huge retirement surge during the pandemic that would bump those lines around 2%.

This report is wrong. Labor participation rate at 62% tells a lot. Where are the 2 million people who refuse to work and are on welfare fraudulently?

There are millions of able bodied men who are not working. That number needs to be factored into the calculation .

The low U-3 is based on how many people are not looking for work. It's a sham.
