"There are enough materials in reserves. The analysis is robust and this study debunks those (running out of minerals) concerns," said Daniel Ibarra, an environment professor at Brown University, who wasn't part of the study but looks at lithium shortages. But he said production capacity has to grow for some "key metals" and one issue is how fast can it grow.

Another concern is whether the mining will add more heat-trapping carbon emissions to the atmosphere. The cost of most products is measured primarily by the amount of energy it takes to create, acquire or distribute the item.

Oil companies are working harder to come up with new options as well, when you say "get on board green energy", that only means progressive shakedowns.

What a laughable attempt at a talking point by ABC "news." Might as well have asked Dan Rather what he things.

Well north of a trillion dollars is needed to invest in the precious metals required for this 'green energy transition' that some hold as an article of religious faith. Redefine terms all you want, but it ain't possible to do this stuff cheaply, or in some sort of wonderful tree hugging way. Most of the 'carbon' impact isn't even the mining itself, but refining them into usable grades. It's dirty, requires a LOT of energy, and exponential growth.

It's not just lithium, but cobalt, manganese, platinum, silver, copper, palladium, gold, nickel, you name it.



Sure, humanity should be able to do this, the question is why, to me, and is it worth what we will do to our fellow man in places like Africa/Asia to get this produced?

The real solution to clean energy is staring everyone right in the face, but the leftists won't allow that, either - nuclear energy. We could solve all of our energy needs for the foreseeable future, it would be friendly to the environment, and it would be cheaper. But that wouldn't allow them the control they want.

Just after the Big Bang it is theorized that lithium was the 3rd most abundant element.
