NIMBY

Quote:

Liberal elites spend their summers on Nantucket, an isolated island off Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Many year-round residents live in homes worth millions of dollars and are furious about the plans to build an affordable housing complex on the island.

Surfside Crossing is planning to build 156 homes on a 13-acre affordable housing development has sparked a flurry of lawsuits and protests. A record amount of residents have turned out at hearings to object to the low-income housing development amid the worst affordability crisis for homeownership ever.

Quote:

Residents, such as Perry, claim the low-income development isn't a case of NIMBY-ism but instead about protecting the environment.

She added: "It's going to weaken our infrastructure, it's going to put our first responders at risk, it's going to put the community at risk."
156 $261K-$373K homes on 13 acres gonna risk white leftist women's safety...

Lots of elitist Conservatives do this crap too. They live in Westlake (Austin), Westlake (FtW), Southlake, Highland Park, and a few other areas.

I am a proponent of private property rights - even the right of the guy in the lot next to me to put a trailer on his property next to my half-million dollar home.

The only limitations on what you can build on property you own should be related to real demonstrable health considerations in which your actions may present a real threat to the health of your neighbors.

Went to Fort Bend County to see a Steven Crowder show and see some family friends last year. They are building apartments on a grand scale there. It looked like there was a new apartment complex under construction on every corner.

They higher density housing will bring more (relative) riff-raff. That's too damn bad.

A large part of the issue in some places is physical infrastructure. The municipalities can only meet a certain amount of demand per day for things like water and sewer without expanding their facilities, and new development would push them too close to or above those capacities. Other issues involve not having adequate first responders, both in personnel and facilities/equipment. It's one thing to hire a bunch of cops and firemen, it's another to have cruisers, fire trucks, and stations/substations for them all.

It's not a question of, "We don't want you here," it's, "We can't take on more people until we can support them "

Ultimately very few people are against financial support for other people, they are just against redistributing it away from themselves. We are quite generous with other people's money, convenience and safety.

Unfortunately this is true across party lines.

So, you don't mind at all if a trailer house with 8 broken down cars, dogs chained to every tree and trash blowing everywhere happens on the vacant lot next to your $500K house?

I'm a property rights guy as well, to the point it drastically affects your property value, then the local govt needs to give you some protection.

Sounds like we need to report them to HUD for resisting building affordable and equitable housing!

I'm sure the Deep State Bureaucracy will definitely enforce these rules on rich white DNC donor communities and not just red suburbs

I can easily see 12 units on one acre of they are stacked two high. No yards.

Serious question - are there any schools in the area given the demographic of the homeowners / plantation owners in that area for the low class peasant children to attend?

That place is one of the best examples of white privilege liberal elitism. Are Dems proud of these folks? Or do they just desire to be them?

That is true of every single growing city. If you wait for the infrastructure it will never happen, they will never add utilities, police, and fire in anticipation for high density growth. Something tells me that they are better situated financially to add these services than most. These houses are not going to be move in ready by tomorrow, they can add needed services in plenty of time. This is 100% an excuse the keep the riff-raff away from their precious homes.

From the party of Pete Bootegdeedge, you really think they are even remotely capable of building infrastructure and logistically setting up civil services??

The only thing they are remotely capable of hopping on their jets and traveling to the Great White Kingdom to discuss how to take money and votes from people less fortunate than them and spend it to research why they treat others so poorly and how many millions it will take to make those people feel better about the mistreatment.

It's very progressive.

Rockport had a neighborhood developed before the big crash.
The houses were affordable with the plan that teachers, police, nurses and others could afford it.
The market squashed that, and comps started climbing above the anticipated price points.
