Theoretically, the natural gas sales specifications likely allow for a very very small amount of other molecules, but extremely low levels.

As a random example below of one company's SDS for natural gas, they can see 0-3% N2 (as well as many other compounds). But that said, it has to react into NO2.

Moral of the story is democrats trying to fear monger over something that almost has a 0% chance of effecting you like they always do (ex: rona).

If you run the math, the libs have some up with enough causes for asthma to account for about 350% of all cases of asthma were caused by... air pollution, buses, cars, VOCs in paint, VOCs in countertops, VOCs in carpet, poor ventilation, air handlers in school, old paper in libraries, lead paint, global warming, global cooling, food deserts, lack of public transportation, too much public transportation, racial railroad bridges, racial freeways, system racism and white privilege.

Nitrogen in the air oxidizes with oxygen at temperatures above 2600F. Natural gas burns at 3500F. An open flame doesn't happen in a clean environment in a test tube.

Does the nitrogen get involved in the chemical reaction we call "burning"?

When just over 3/4 percent by volume of air is nitrogen, kind of hard to keep it from getting involved in the chemical reactions

My kitchen air has been replaced with pure O2 so I can have the cleanest cooking experience possible. It also dramatically decreases cooking time, particularly when my cooking starts at 3500F. Low and slow is for dirty BBQ junkies and electric stove huggers.

Atmospheric N2 is inert at room temp. It's only when it is heated that the nitrogen atoms separate and react with other elements.

The way we are handling it in NYC isn’t to force people to switch what they already have. Folks can keep their appliances, and new buildings in NYC will have gas-free stoves.

As for federally, any proposal from the CPSC would go through a quite lengthy review and input process.
