Usually people get more conservative as they grow older, but this pattern isn't holding true for millennials. The GOP is going to have to move towards the left if they want to remain relevant at all. The demographics are completely against them as the boomers start to die off. Their tired old ideology is a failure and the millennials aren't buying it as they age.

A recent study revealed that millennial voters, both in the U.S. and the U.K., are not following the typical rule that as people get older they become more conservative, but instead becoming more liberal over time.

The millennial generation was born between 1981 and 1996, is known for loving their pets more than their children and was the last generation to grow up without the internet, according to The Washington Post. Traditionally, voters follow a regular pattern of leaning more liberal until they are 35 and then move toward more conservative beliefs as they age, but millennials are breaking the mold, according to an analysis by the Financial Times.

Millennials in the U.S. appeared to be on track to move toward conservatism until about 30 but dropped sharply away from conservatism by the time they were 40, according to the Times.

Wrong, liberalism is a massive failure in every way. I'm considered a millennial and I despise the progressive movement more and more each day. The cancer of liberalism is spreading due to propaganda. You'd have to be completely detached from reality and borderline insane to think that liberalism is becoming more popular due to the merit of their ideas and policy positions. Liberalism is based on emotional responses to issues and always result in failure.

Looks like Millenials are headed for a Caste System.

And while they many "think" they will be in the privileged group... they will soon find out they are not.

If everyone thinks they will be a "have"... then there will be no "haves."

Elon buying twitter was step 1 to hopefully shining a light on the brainwashing going on by the federal agencies and our media. Millennials, particularly the younger ones, grew up in the age of social media and the brainwashing effects from social media are much stronger than those of ordinary media, in my opinion.

Only way the GOP has a chance is to put a stop to this. I don't have high hopes as I tend to believe the GOP is in on it. Hell Bush was in charge of the CIA as was Pompeo. Bringing down the federal bureaucracy is not likely unless Elon himself runs for and wins the presidency and even then, odds are low.

Then millennials are morons. The GOP can move to the left all they want. I won't be.

Yes, free markets and capitalism are a failure. Far left Marxism is the future. You think this because you have no understanding of basic economics nor human behavior.

Good luck.

That demographic study may create some hope for those desperate for their perceived utopia, but there are cultural shifts happening that have way more kinetic energy than a poll.

1) many, many dems/liberals became more conservative as a result of how the dems handled Covid with draconian rules and fear peddling. Covid really exposed them for their true colors. And as it turns out all of their "science" appears to have imploded.
2) the Covid hangover remains and as more dem run anti law enforcement cities continue to be reduced to growing and rampant squalor, more dems/libs will wake up.
3) we are a capitalist society and as such our way of life is inherently more slanted towards what conservatives stand for. The more liberal things get, the more our way of life that has been so successful will degrade. Consequently, there will be a push back, and if so, it won't be pretty, but it will be necessary.

It's not liberal brainwashing.

One factor is the horrible economy. Boomer greed has failed to create generational wealth and prosperity. Much has been selfishly squandered.

But more importantly, conservatives have no compelling vision for the future.

They aren't conserving values, they're just getting dragged. They talk tough about drag queen story hour, but don't even have the courage to vote down gay marriage at the federal level. I'm sure in the not so distant future we'll be hearing that democrats are the real homophobes.

And Republicans in power obviously don't give a damn about the border. They want the cheap labor driving down wages just as much if not more so than Democrats want immigration for the votes. They just put on more of a ruse for their less educated base, doing stunts like bussing immigrants around to own the libs. Won't lead to any policy change of course.

There is a demand for right wing politics, and actually addressing important cultural issues like declining fertility, the disasters of multiculturalism, poor economic growth, poor health, and not letting foreign actors dictate our foreign policy. Donald Trump the so-called white supremacist won't directly address let alone utter the phrase "white people" in his speeches. But he should address the majority from time to time, if not most of the time. The cowardice is almost comical.

Conservatives are always willing to make excuses, like in this thread. They have very little political agency. They pretend to be pious and more spiritual. In practice they're petty and materialistic. They won't make sacrifices to win. Can't enter politics, too busy with muh job. Can't enter academics, muh trades pay more. Can't close the border, muh cheap labor. Can't ban porn, muh free speech. And so on.

Basically, if you are on the right, the enemy is not the liberals, it's the conservatives who are in the way, stalling, lying, grandstanding, and grifting. They need to be removed to make way for intelligent, honest, respectable leaders who have vision. With very few exceptions, those leaders are on the left, and that's who millennials will follow.

LOfeakingL, no, just no! There's no way any rational human being believes that the left produces honest and respectable leaders. They may be intelligent and they may have vision but they use it to pursue malicious goals. Absolutely despicable people in every way. Millennials will reject their idiotic policy positions once the economic pain extinguishes the effectiveness of progressive propaganda. Conservatives do need better leaders, ones that stand up to the scum bag liberals, I'll give you that.

Hey OP,

How does it feel to see Ken Paxton win in a double digit landslide.

Interfering in another party's primary failed completely for you.

All Republicans won by double digit landslides statewide in Texas.

Texas millennials are becoming more conservative.

Every Texas millennial I know watches Louder with Crowder.

Texas millennials are very pro 2nd amendment.

Look at the shift towards Republicans in the exit poll for millennials in the 2018 Senate election to 2022 Governor election.

Enjoy another 4 years of complete Republican control and enjoy Ken Paxton being the chief legal officer of the state you live in.

Why don't you go on Reddit and lie about moving to crime infested California. I am sure they will take you in lovingly. They are losing population at a record rate and even lost a electoral vote.

This. It's not so much a function of Millennials becoming more liberal and moving toward the Democrats. It's more a function of them despising Trump. When/if Trump is out of the picture, they'll revert back to the normal trend.

Boomer here. We were very fortunate that my parents and my wife's parents passed on a nice portion of their wealth to their sons/daughters. We've done well with our finances, and it has been a goal of ours to do the same for our Millennial daughters that our parents did for us. As we shared our thoughts with them, we've been met with comments from, "please spend it, we don't. need it," to "if you're really serious then give me my inheritance now." The responses surprised us...so much so we're now considering giving a much greater percentage to the charities we support.

This is a perfect example.

"Please spend it"? How about "please invest it to create continued prosperity for this family, and to make the world a better place"? This is the lack of vision I'm talking about. Do you not have a vision for this money? Do you and your children not share enough values such that you can't come up with a way to put it to good use? To moderately increase their wealth or agency?

Say you have a couple million. Do your children realize they can invest that money wisely and live modestly off the interest, which could free up their time to pursue an ambitious goal? Perhaps that is "only" being responsible stewards of the wealth to grow it. Surely you taught them the Parable of the Talents?

When confronted with the reality that your children don't know how to use money, because apparently you didn't teach them, you're considering giving it to charity out of spite? This is wicked!

For the love of God, give this a little more thought. Your children need purpose, and to know they have a responsibility to those that came before them. Maybe your children are fat hedonistic slobs overcome by nihilism and it's too late for them, but even if that's the case, I would pursue them and try to cultivate something. At the very least they can pay off their mortgage so they can take bigger risks in their careers or investments.

This scenario is all too common. I'm guessing you probably might not even have your will written yet. You should seriously contemplate your death and ponder how you can secure the future of your children and grandchildren. Screw charity. These are your kin.

Edit: Realized you have daughters so you might need to talk to your son-in-laws.
