The Atlantic published a lengthy story about this topic today. Author Tim Alberta opens the piece by describing how one Phoenix couple, Mary Rose and Earl Wilcox, set out to become a focal point for Hispanic activism on behalf of the Democratic Party for more than 20 years. But recently something changed and not in the way they expected....

The party has moved too far left. It's no longer a party that seems committed to the ideals of success through hard work or even to capitalism itself. That's not a message that resonates with a lot of Hispanic voters who came here specifically because they do believe in those things.

Mara-Elena Lpez, who held a variety of positions under [Juan] Cuba in [Miami-Dade] county party, saw this shift taking place in real time. She believes that there is no real mystery to it: While Trump successfully portrayed himself as a populist achieving hard-won economic growthsigning tax cuts into law, touting a record-shattering stock market, boasting the lowest Hispanic unemployment rate in historyDemocrats came across as a bunch of out-of-touch idealogues. Promises of shared social progress, she told me, offend the sensibilities of many first- and second-generation immigrants who hate the idea of government handouts.

"We're not a political party, we're a charity. And you know what? These people don't want charity," Lpez said. "These immigrants come here to make money and keep their families safe. They are not here because the sea levels are rising, or because of social justice, or anything else. We're out there talking about racism and the Green New Deal and defunding the police, and we're freaking them out."

I welcome our Hispanic brothers and sisters to the Party of Lincoln where we still believe in the promise of faith, family and individualism

That hasn't been true for several decades...longer than 20-years for sure.

The Democratic Party hasn't stood for hard work and capitalism since at least the Great Society in the 1960s but in reality not since the New Deal in the 1930s.

That any Dem operatives have been selling Latinos on these as Dem values at all in the last 50 years would be a scam and misinformation.

I guess it's good that a segment of the country is finally waking up to the Dems as proverbial snake oil salesmen.

If folks want communism, they are free to immigrate to South America where there is plenty of it.

So folks in the US better start voting NOT to **** up what we got! There isn't anywhere else to go.

Or even north to Canada if they must.

In fact most of the Left should move to Europe. They need the demographic boost and are fine with various brands of socialism. We need one place in the world to stay freedom enterprise and freedom of speech oriented.

I work with a lot of immigrant browns. Almost to the last, they despise Biden. Buuuuuuut, several voted for Beto because they disliked Abbott for his closure of Texas for the WAV.

Don't they realize a Democrat would still have the state closed? Hell, still might do it again?

Those problems apply to a lot more demographics than just Latinos.
