" An Arkansas federal judge ordered Kroger to pay two former employees $180,000.
They were fired from the store after refusing to wear an apron with a "multicolored heart," court documents show."

"Both have sincerely held religious beliefs that homosexuality is a sin and that they cannot support or promote it," the judge wrote."

"Kroger has to pay $180,000 to two former employees who were fired after they refused to wear a company apron with a phrase that they considered to be an LGBTQ+ symbol after a lawsuit."

"The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a lawsuit on behalf of the two employees who were disciplined and ultimately fired from their jobs at a Kroger in Conway, Arkansas. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Brenda Lawson and Trudy Rickerd on September 14, 2020, in Eastern Arkansas District court, according to court documents."

Just wondering if religion is the only way to get excluded from this crap.

In this so called free country, what about "I just really don't support LGBTLMNOP. Because I don't like it."?

Or if I don't want to bake a cake, I don't have to bake a cake. No reason other than "Because I don't want to".

No, I don't care what CNN or MSNBC said this time

Biden's Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed this lawsuit.

You know you really dumb when even they think you went too far in pushing the gay.

Not liking something isn't a protected class, so your employer can make you wear distasteful things like pics of Rosie O'Donnell or longhorn paraphernalia

It's when it makes you go against your religion that it becomes a problem

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech"

Looks like it protects both your right to practice your religion and your right to free speech.

You do realize Kroger is not Congress right?

I expect better from you. The Constitution (and specifically the 1st Amendment) protects you from the GOVERNMENT - not private employers. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects you in the employment context.

I'm just wondering from the 1st amendment text that talks about protections of both religion and free speech, why is only religion protected while working at Kroger?

This is great news for Arkansas. When we see this type of court ruling in California, Colorado, Washington and other bastions of woke liberalism we will know that the tide has really turned.

It's not a first amendment issue. It's civil rights law. Also protects race, sex, national origin

Ok. I thought the civil rights law was rooted in the first amendment.

It's not.

But if it were, "speech" not included in the civil rights statutes

Nope.

Our uniform includes a US flag. Jehovah's witnesses refuse to adorn a flag - so we have it covered for them. I'm shocked that Kroger's in-house attorneys didn't know better.

So… basically naked?

I can see why that would be an issue.

Aren't chaps by definition assless?

I'll never understand why companies feel like they have to pander to groups, be it veterans or LBGTQ groups, and instead should just adopt a motto of "don't be an ******* to people."

I support the right of two consenting adults to do whatever they want that isn't violating the rights of others

Compelling others to support your sexual preferences is violating the rights of others and a guaranteed way to turn off people like me who would otherwise support you

Understood, but we all owe gratitude to veterans and should all celebrate them. Gays, well, they usually dress nicely. At least gay men do.

Why would you take F16's opinion on clothing? Go shopping at your nearest Kroger and see for yourself.
