He should be executed.

And the Bidens should give all their Chinese money back. They're every bit as bought.

Dude is 54, spent a "decade" in the military and was a harrier pilot. I have a hard time believing he has much relevant expertise in modern tactics from a short career decades ago. I guess if he's relying on more recent fighter pilots that would make sense.

Purely speculative on my part but I read this as china feels as though they're as good on tech and are now actively working to entice westerners to teach their people the TTPs on how to employ all of the tech that they have been stealing over the years.

Oh yea and definitely hang his ass assuming he was actively aiding the enemy as it reads here.

He needs to executed twice. I would volunteer in a second to be on his firing squad. With Xiden in office. He will probably be nominated for the Medal of Honor.

If he helped a future adversary to become skilled in a lethal capability it's relevant enough to get the maximum punishment we can give.

The very idea that a former active duty Marine officer would do this is sick. Total lack of judgment on his part. Either that or he knows exactly what he did and the damage he caused and just doesn't care and was only in it for the money.

There's a very real chance that pilots he actually helped train are going to engage current US Marine Corps pilots flying off the decks of the LHA type ships we deploy in a picket line ahead of the carrier groups in the East China Sea and the Taiwan Strait should hostility break out.
Greater love hath no man than this....

The question then becomes-- the tactics that were being taught 20 years ago to American pilots-- were they to be taught today, would much of them STILL be relevant and thus provide our enemy with an advantage over any inherent enemy....... like say.... Taiwan.

Duggan moved to Australia after a decade in the U.S. military and started a business called Top Gun Tasmania, hiring former U.S. and British military pilots to offer tourists joyrides in fighter jets, company records show and aviation sources confirmed.

Duggan also flew ex-military aircraft in Australian air shows, three pilots told Reuters.

Top Gun Tasmania's website says Duggan flew Harrier jump jets in the U.S. Marines and was an air combat instructor.

He moved to Beijing in 2014 and soon after sold Top Gun Tasmania, filings in Australia for the company show.

Duggan's LinkedIn profile said he has been working in Qingdao, China, since 2017 as the managing director of AVIBIZ Limited, described as "a comprehensive aviation consultancy company with a focus on the fast growing and dynamic Chinese Aviation Industry".

Hong Kong company records show AVIBIZ Limited was registered there by Australian passport holder Daniel Edmund Duggan in 2017 and dissolved in 2020.
Before we execute this guy for treason on the internet, I feel like we need to pause until we learn more. China's furious growth over the last few decades has seen them take over so many industries world-wide. People from Europe or US being offered good money from Chinese companies to consult or train on their respective crafts or skills have been very common and some may have been taken advantage of. Did this guy think he was training future Chinese warriors when he was presented opportunities to make money training people to fly? Is it possible he just started a business doing what he knows how to do? Everyone else does business with and in China. From Joe Biden to Donald Trump, from Bezos and Zuckerberg to Musk, from BofA to Blackrock. China has been stealing IP and trade secrets illicitly all over the world, creating partnerships explicitly all over the world, buying real and intellectual property all over the world, and hiring experts all over the world in every industry. This seems like one ex-American/ Austrialian man who owned a flight training business in Tazmania started a similar business in China to make more money. Should he have known that he might be training fighters to then fight against us?

China is only a rival right now, not a declared enemy by congress, so he hasn't broken any treason law. We're not at war with them. He might have violated other laws in regards to aiding a foreign military without approval but a specific statute would have to exist and cover this instance. This isn't a technology issue so much as a knowledge and doctrine issue, though I will say the concepts of how to pilot effectively are so well known today that the top end civilian flight sim pilots often to well against military pilots in simulators, so the knowledge of general combat maneuvering is rather general and public. The issue would be specific weaknesses of American aviation that the Chinese might learn regarding favored tactics or deployment.

It's definitely an anti-American behavior and either the money was good or he is one of those fools that likes to feel important and is therefore easy to exploit.

Unlikely we'll be using a capital ship as a picket for another capital ship, especially not one as vulnerable as an LHA/LHD. But yeah I agree with the sentiment that he could literally be training Chinese to kill fellow American and Marines if the accusations are true

My point is that if they actually find his expertise useful then they're much worse off than I thought. However if he has more qualified and current pilots advising as well that could actually be a problem.

Reading the articles I'm not sure what the crime is here. Not saying it is something I would do but what is the illegality of being a flight instructor for China?

also reading the article, I don't know that i see the calls of treason. The article says he is no longer a US citizen and he clearly doesn't reside within the states, so could he legally even be charged with treason?

We aren't at war with China so nobody could be charged with treason. There's a reason why so few people have ever been charged

I still haven't figured out why we keep allowing China to get away with stealing Intellectual property, buy our companies, and steal our national secrets. If you are not aware, they are now trying to change international standards away from US standards for tech (think UL and other IEEE type standards.)

https://carnegieendowment.org/2021/10/28/three-takeaways-from-china-s-new-standards-strategy-pub-85678

These same jokers that have been caught backdooring cameras, motherboards, and many other tech devices should never be allowed to be invovled in western standards. All of the west needs to cut them off totally. Move all production to other countries and ruin them.
