I put families in " " because this is being backed/pushed by the usual anti-gun groups that were behind the "Sandy Hook" families going after Remington. They know an idiot jury will rule for them purely on emotion even though federal law prohibits these kinds of lawsuits.

Probably not. Most Russian ammo, which is usually steel case, will jam most ARs very quickly.

Might have been a foreign maker such as Sellier & Bellot so just not worth it for them.

Not really true, except maybe for TulAmmo. And even then, it's seems more like it was the Bushmaster carbine didn't work well with Tula, since the Spike's rifle fired 6,000 rounds with no cleaning and only 3 malfunctions.

The biggest issue with steel cased ammo isn't the steel casing at all - it's that the bimetal bullet jackets used almost exclusively with steel case ammo wears out barrels much, much faster. Estimated barrel like about 5,000 rounds when shooting at high volumes.

What about the car manufacturer who made the truck he used to drive over to the school, the equipment companies who made the "tactical" gear he used, and how about his parents who gave birth and raised the shooter?

Because it's everyone else's fault the shooter committed a crime.

Yeah makes perfect sense to sue everyone else but the state and local government departments that absolutely displayed malevolent incompetence.

Slippery slope.

Sue gun manufacturers for shooting deaths. Sue auto manufacturers for crash deaths. Sue liquor manufacturers for alcohol related deaths (maybe link them to the gun and car deaths). Sue fast food chains for obesity related deaths.

Easy for you to say. I manage litigation for a very large company. The cost of defense is enormous - and in certain jurisdictions, the possible verdicts are ruinous.

Texas is one of the worst jurisdictions, particularly south Texas. The Plaintiffs' bar is less than ethical, the judges do not hold them to account, and the juries are prone to runaway verdicts (see the recent Charter communications verdict).

This is the perfect storm - the left wants to kill the gun industry through lawfare and the Plaintiffs' bar hasn't seen a tragedy it can't exploit for profit.

Why wasn't the shooters family or Ford sued too?

And who built the roads that got him there? They should be sued also. What shoes was he wearing? What about the black clothes? The fat girl over seas he messaged first? His teachers? His boss at Wendy's?

Loser pays. Next time around we fix this. Lawsuit lottery has to end.

They're suing the school district, the Uvalde PD, the Uvalde ISD PD chief, and the school principal, and even the company that made the doors and I think Motorola (because the radios didn't work inside the building. I guess the inability to defy the laws of physics makes you negligent.) It's a money grab, with anti-gun stuff thrown in as a bonus.

Of the various firearm related entities named in the suit, the only one where I would think they might have a claim would be the local gun store. They didn't do anything illegal, but they're local, and thus might have had reason to know that this kid wasn't right in the head, since that was apparently a known thing in the community.

3700 folks killed in the US this year in car accidents confirmed to be caused by texting while driving. A very easy fix and no talk of that or sueing the phone manufacturers.

So stupid and a waste of money. Shouldn't even be allowed to file suits like this.
