While that may sound like a great idea for EV owners, I can see these charging centers as being hubs for crime. There isn't enough security or police and a remote charging station on I-40 anywhere near Memphis or other high crime cities would make an ideal target for a car-jacking or kidnapping, criminals knowing that well-to-do EV owners would be frequenting the stations. I know many EV owners would never countenance the thought of being responsible for their own safety by packing a gun. OTOH, a hybrid can make 450-550 miles between fillups.
The other thread was locked but to me this seems a legitimate concern of having these charging stations scattered everywhere, especially with a 15 minute charge time. My in and out for fuel is about 5-7 minutes.

Well, I know who just made the "pre-crime" watch list.

Kudos for the big brain Brad.

I would only ever buy an EV as a 3rd vehicle, can't imagine not having a gas car.

1. Though I fear crime for myself I can't imagine worrying about my wife sitting at a charging station waiting for it to charge so she can leave. Often times no one else is there, no way I would want her (or any woman) having to sit in her car alone in the dark for 30 minutes charging. They would also have to unplug to leave so they can't get a quick getaway.

2. Imagine you are in Florida right now and you think you are safe but the storm takes a turn. You are stuck in traffic and trying to get out but you can't get enough charge. It's hard enough with gas vehicles in that situation.

3. I drive distances often and having to wait that long to charge (assuming I can find a charging station) would be a major pain. I also haul stuff in my truck and use a trailer on occasion and they absolutely suck at that. The Lighting is only useful to folks who use their truck as a "Pavement Princess".
