My niece is a freshman at CHS and just texted the family that the principal caught a kid with a gun in backpack and several others were in on it. Apparently kids who've already had a few disciplinary issues (cussing out teachers / problems with authority). They planned to pull the fire alarm and shoot whoever ran out into parking lot.

Haven't seen anything on news outlets yet… no idea if true or school rumors at this point. My niece is very much a rule follower and not one to make up crap.

Anyone know anything?

Well there it is gif…sad. Thanks for finding the article and glad no one was hurt. My niece said one of the kids sat right next to her in a class for the first time in a few weeks and she thought it was odd. Scary stuff.

If true, what the hell is wrong with these kids? School shootings have become monkey see monkey do. Have their brains become so addled by pills and other crap that they think shooting up a school and ending up dead is a good idea? The adults in this country have completely failed these younger generations. There has always been turds, but all of this crap going on now seems worse.

I can assure you-- back in the day no shooter would have made it from the parking lot to the gym door. Country kids all had their guns in their pick ups.

Clearly we should just fall back to letting the government and school take care of kids then since some parents fail. Probably should run another gazillion TV specials and movies talking about the kids to do this stuff too and really try to understand them and show other kids how much attention they get.

I'm not sure what generation you are, but it is the terrorism flavor right now. Like political assassination attempts and bombings in the 70's.

To stay on track of this thread; its pretty wild to happen at a school like Calallen. Flour Bluff and Calallen have historically been the better schools in the Corpus area, which happen to play tonight in football.

Not to continue the derail, but the number of murderers who has 2 loving parents is proportionally much smaller than those with troubled family life.

Regardless of rearing, there's a percentage of sociopaths by nature. The likelihood of misbehavior by those sociopaths can be skewed via nurture (either toward or away), but some kids just belong in combat.

It's amazing to see folks flipping between anecdotes, dishonestly combined statistics, or hyper focus as it suits their narrative.

I actually went to a neighboring school in Corpus. Calallen was always one of the top schools in South Texas.

As far as some of the "if it was a country school" Calallen is pretty country. They do have a area where the "river rats" live, with lots of ozark **** happening.
