My own U of Utah built "Cry Closets" a few years ago during finals. The University of Michigan Law School had stuffed animals available for student therapy as well.

When I was in hs in the 80's I think something like 40% of kids went to college. We had counselors telling some students that college wouldn't be a good path.

Now we have this, massive student loan debt and useless degrees with grads who end up broke.

I'm 1980, 29% of grads enrolled in college.

I was in Who's Who of American High School Students in 1992 - back when accolades meant something.

Could pretty much punch my ticket to anywhere with that. Thought about MIT or Stanford but meh.

Went to A&M instead.

Took physics as a freshman and I wanted to rip out my brain and stab it. Needles to say, I changed majors and went for BA in History. I would sell my first born, if I could go back in time and have a class that was as easy, as leaning Taylor Swift songs.

Same here. I thought it was just a ploy for someone to make money on high school kids by telling them that they are smart and putting them in a book.

I have 2 undergraduate degrees from my years in Austin. I was also on an alumni advisory board, and helped get the ball rolling on an endowment program to rival how ou got the jump in recruiting/bribing National Merit scholars to land in Austin instead of Norman (odd, but $ talks)

Now? I won't answer a single call from UTAustin, and I've suggested to friends/family that they should strongly consider other colleges for their kids to attend.

Higher Education is a traveshamockery, outside of some very specific studies nowadays
