Because the theoretical efficiency will be achieved and there is no on-going costs for maintenance.

So, it would take 6 years to recapture ROI for initial costs. Now do Operational Cost, Depreciation, Energy Loss in Transmission.

These people are NOT smart.
Also - energy isn't valuable because it's energy - it's valuable because it's an input to producing goods. "More jobs creating energy" just means "more expenses to pass on to producers of goods."

Take - for example - atmospheric oxygen. No headcount is currently employed for the general livability of people. It's insane to say that a Mars colony will be MORE productive because their economy will require more jobs in terraforming!

Why are we doing all this stuff when we could just build a **** load of nuclear reactors? They're cleaner, safer, and more efficient than every other energy source out there.

How do these people keep getting paid to peddle this crap when their ideas keep getting proven false? Germany has spent trillions of Euros on renewables sufficient to provide 200% of their needs yet those "solutions" are providing about 10%. Why? Well it turns out Germany isn't windy or sunny enough for this **** to work. Now the Russians are cutting them off and it's lead to panic buying of wood and wood burning stoves.

We have similar issues here. Something like 80% of Americans don't live close enough to areas where there's sufficient wind or solar energy to make it work.

Why do we keep giving these people a microphone?

Germany also decided to delay shutting down their remaining nuclear plants recently. It was the smartest energy move they've made in decades.
