Saw this link from American Thinker

The practice of federal agents being intimately involved in PR disasters and still moving on to leadership positions is always concerning.

How much of the recounting of events is accurate and how much of it is edited to engender sympathy for the family?

I'd like for someone to come up with one positive thing the ATF has done since it's inception.

The FBI used to be an honorable institution. Obama destroyed it.

Everyone involved on the LEO side of Ruby Ridge should be doing a life sentence.

The article is pretty accurate.

And it should have served as a warning that the bureaucracies at the federal level had basically achieved self-awareness and had become practically unassailable and massively powerful entities in and of themselves, which pose an existential threat to the rights of the American people.

This is frankly the inevitable conclusion of the explosion of the power and reach of the federal government.

Lon Horiuchi never faced any punishment in the FBI but he has practically disappeared from the map. I wonder if his buddy Feds put him in the witness protection program to keep him safe.

Didn't they promote some of the irresponsible from Waco?

I'm still mad about Twin Peaks in Waco where they rounded up anyone and everyone they could get their hands on and held them indefinitely on $1 million dollar bond.

That was local but it's a slippery slope as we have seen in recent years.

David Chipman was one of the agents at Waco, and he was recently Biden's nominee to head the ATF. Clown show.

When is anyone in any level of government held accountable to their actions?

(Other than Trump of course)

Twin Peaks in Waco was the trial run for what they've done with the 1/6 people

You might want to read up a bit more on the FBI. If anything they used to be worse

EXACTLY. Obama was horrid, but everyone on here that thinks he's the first one to weaponize the agencies is delusional

Since the FBI reports to the Legislative Branch and not the Executive Branch, how did Obama destroy it? Somehow I missed this part.

That's the main difference. They had sleazy sides and even criminal moments, but they were in context of the larger national picture. Not in service of an overseas directed coercive socialism agenda.

I understand that the FBI reports to the Department of Justice, which reports to the Legislative Branch (Congress). My question, which no one seems to be able to answer, is how did the Executive Branch destroy an agency of the Legislative Branch?

Because you understand incorrectly. DOJ and FBI are part of the executive branch.

The head of the DOJ is the Attorney General. And it seems to me that the Attorney General is a Cabinet post.

The FBI was honorable? You might want to do more reading on one J Edgar Hoover. And by the way - their building is still named for this complete asshat of a wart on US history.

And the FBI saved the kids from rape by burning them to a crisp.

If only there was a system in place to arrest him on his routine trips outside of the compound.

And the ATF could've picked him up anytime he left the compound to hit Waco. But that would've displayed competence. And that's just not a thing for the ATF.
