Kalamazoo, Michigan business owners are furious after city leaders voted to decriminalize public urination, defecation and littering among other offenses, all under the guise of "equitable changes."

"I don't have a horrible time outside my shop particularly… but my neighbor has had human feces outside his door," Bil said. The Pop City Popcorn co-owner also stressed her neighboring store owner's struggle with an increase in littering, a struggle she says continues despite ambassadors coming to the area to help clean up.

Emery, who owns a chocolate and coffee shop in Kalamazoo, said she witnessed the consequences of lenient city leaders firsthand, however.

"One day, we kept smelling something in the back of the store… and it was human feces," she said.
"I called my landlord and nobody would do anything about it. This is before we had ambassadors… so I had to clean it up myself."

In my endurance activities of running and cycling, I've had to emergency drop trou for #1 and #2. If someone runs off into the woods, behind a building trash can, etc. to try and hide their business, it's quite understandable and shouldn't be punished. Also, where in the hell are the homeless supposed to go?

But if you've some some guy tweaking on bath salts dropping a steaming pile right in front of your business out in front of the entire public, no, this is not acceptable.

I assume the city will continue to ticket people when their dog craps on the sidewalk or a public park when the owner doesn't pick it up and dispose of it. Don't dogs have rights too?

Naw, that's the east side of the state. The west side is mostly wineries, breweries, and dutch dairy farmers. I live about 30 miles from Kalamazoo. It's always been a mix of cultures, but it appears the homegrown woke crowd is winning now. Sad really, it has always been a really nice midwestern city. Western MI U is located there, which brings in a fair amount of arts and culture, as well as Bells Brewery, and a really vibrant downtown area. I guess that's all going to crap now, pun intended.
